I can't tell you how excited I am to be making my inaugural blog post on the Passion 268 Blog from north of the border in the beautiful city of Toronto.

Toronto, wow! What can I say? We are overwhelmed. No one has ever attempted a citywide (OK, Ontario-wide!) university gathering before, so we really didn't know what to expect. But when a student from Alberta (that's not in Ontario for all you guys reading this from down below) was outside the Ricoh at 9 AM, we had a feeling something pretty amazing was about to happen.

Thank you so much for allowing Passion to come and share this night with you. Your beaming faces, and the hunger in your hearts, have won us over. As much as we already loved Canada, and felt a tremendous connection to the university students throughout the GTA, that feeling is even stronger now.

One thing I know sitting in the Ricoh as you head back to places all across southern Ontario... God is alive and well here! He is alive and His name was made great in this place tonight.

Headed out into the cold Toronto night now, humbled God would make it possible for our Passion team be a part of such a special night!

- Louie

  • Passion Team,

PRAISE GOD for such an amazing turnout and God's presence at Passion!!! Thank you so much for coming to Toronto and helping us continue and keep the passion going among the many different university students. We feel so blessed to have such a dedicated organization that wants to see the name of Jesus glorified in our city. It was DEFINITELY an amazing event, and we look forward to passion coming back again so we can once again celebrate the name of Jesus, but also continuing to make it a name known to all nations.

  • I was going to the hubble craft (i think that's what it's called) site, but i forgot it's web address, so i ended up here. hehe. But seriously, as much as you thank us for opening our doors to you, we thank you for opening your hearts to us and uniting with us in our visions to take our campuses for Christ. tonight was truly amazing and it awakened us to the reality of who we truly are.

    For His name and renown,

  • It's 3am, I just got home from Passion Toronto and I am sitting here just revelling in the majesty of our God. Passion Team, thank you SO much for bringing your ministry to us in Ontario - I believe that many of us left Ricoh with God's presence, taking it with us to our various campuses. I have definitely been blessed through your ministry, and I pray that you will have the opportunity to be used to speak to the lives of many others. The event tonight was simply amazing, and Lord willing, I look forward to more like it! God bless you all, and thanks again for coming to us.

  • wow all i have to say is PRAISE GOD! I thank God that you guys came out to Toronto and we were able to all worship our father together today. It was such a blessing and soul refresher to remember that it's all about Jesus. I hope to see more of the Passion team in Canada in the future. keep on lifting and glorifying the name of God on high.

  • Wow, thank you for the awesome opportunity to worship freely! As a busy university student and being very involved in music ministries I find myself burning out sometimes in the midst of everything. Passion has allowed God to breathe some fresh life into my life and ministry. I don't think any of us will forget everyone jumping for Christ in "Your Grace is Enough". Again, thank you, this will be a foundation for up-and-coming worship leaders to build on. And even though it's only been a few hours... Please come back again soon! God Bless

  • i am totally speechless...
    like... WOW.
thank you sooooooooo much for bringing Passion up to toronto for us. we've all been waiting so long for something like this to happen.. to see so many of us university students coming together in worship and praising God in one unified voice.

i remember watching the promo cd for Passion Toronto. one thing that was said in one of the videos was how whatever city you guys go into and do an event/concert.. God's already moving in that city.. and that Passion is just a small part of what God's doing there. tonight... i got a chance to see that bigger picture of what God's doing in OUR city and how much HOPE we have in bringing revival into our campuses because our God is SUCH A BIG GOD.
thank you for being a part of what God's doing here in toronto. and i'm so thankful that God's using this ministry to stir up something BIG inside thousands of college/university students' hearts and sending us out there to make HIS NAME RENOWN.

i'm looking forward to seeing Passion come up to Canada again and (hopefully) going into other cities and provinces to continue to unify and send out students over on this side of the border to proclaim and bring fame to His name on other campuses outside of Ontario!

  • Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!!!

What a way to experience a worship session with students hungry for the LORD!
I'm writing back to all my friends back in Uganda and telling them about this.
    God bless!

  • Well, it's 6am and I just got home. Kinda ironic since I left for TO from Leamington 6am yesterday morning. Thank you Passion for coming to Ontario - for recognizing the hunger in hearts around the world. My favourite part of the night was praying in the triangles (we had a square) with 2 people I didn't know. It was awesome that we can have unity when we don't know anything about the other students except that they love the same God I do - hey Vanessa and Simon from TO.

Also, I loved Chris Tomlin's new song - please record it!!!

  • Thankyou for coming to the city of Toronto Louie. It was an historic catalytic moment. I pray that you will continue to be able to do this again in many other cities across our planet.

  • Passion team, thanks for coming to Toronto...It was wonderful to see so many univ students come out to praise Him altogether.

    Just had a misc/random question:
Mr. Giglio, when you were talking about university students' eating habits, did you mean to say, "rum and noodles" or "ramyun noodles"? hahaha... me and my friend(s) were discussing that earlier... :)

    Thanks again,
From a small high school in Woodbridge Ontario.

  • The world is getting so small... in many ways. But i think that "smallness" is making the church BIGGER! We can feel the strength of the world's community of believers so much stronger now because of our smallness. Our world is God's! And last night showed me unity.
Louie, my prayer for you and passion is that you will continue living for God's FAME. I pray you folks are built up in Him.
    Praise God.

  • What a fantastic night of music! And very surreal gathering with so many Christians to praise our Heavenly Father! :)

Also fab to see one of my fav bands in concert - David Crowder!!

P.S. Any chance of more pics being posted??

  • I read somewhere that the name "Toronto" refers to a place of gathering. People all over the world have gathered in Toronto. Last night was not merely a gathering of people in Toronto worshipping God, but a gathering of the nations glorifying and exalting the names of Jesus in one accord! Thank you for igniting this Passion in us. May God continue to use Passion to bless many more people all across North America and the whole world.

  • Thank you so much for coming to Toronto! I think Passion was an amazing awakening for Toronto. I know personally I've really needed to be in the presence of fellow worshippers and at something like Passion. I had been waiting for a long time for something like what Passion was last night. I realize now how small we are...

Please come back to Toronto soon, and may you stir up passion wherever you go. God bless

By Blogger Joyceasaurus, at 11/23/2005 10:37 AM

  • Thank-You for finally coming to Toronto. I was a student when I first heard about Passion about 9-10 yrs ago. Now at 30 and well...not a student anylonger, still I was not about to miss this incredible opportunity. There is something VERY POWERFUL about corporate worship. It's says that God inhabits the praises of his people, and I know he was there last night!! Just one suggestion...I waited outside from 2:50pm yesterday..can you come in the summer next time. ;-)

  • Passion Team, from what I experienced last night at the Ricoh, I know that God is using all of you mightily for His glory. The way God moved in that arena, and through each and every one of us in there - through the prayer, through the worship, through the fellowship - was absolutely wonderful. I came home blessed with a rejuvenated heart and mind, and I praise Him for bringing Passion to Toronto.

It's truly amazing how great and powerful our God is... May the Lord continue to use all of you in reaching out to other students around the world and be a blessing to them, just as you have been to all of us here in Canada :oD

One thing is for sure - God does not have limits in distance when it comes to His people. Let's make it a prayer priority that one day the Passion Conferences will have the blessed opportunity to be in rotation across North America and eventually across the entire world.

    Perpetual blessings to you!

  • What an amazing time to worship God with University students, it's like a fresh wind of hope for our generation. The Christian community at Universities accross Canada is alive and ready to explode. This night was just what I needed.

  • Praise God. I'd really like thank you for coming to Canada, for speaking about HIS renown to the hearts of the university students in Toronto, Ontario and Canada. My gf and i drove down from Ottawa Monday and drove home right after Passion. It was quite a marvelous sight to see the name of Jesus lifted up. On a lighter note, Crowder's hair is likewise some sort of magnificents from God, what kinda of Gel does he use? lol - and its all God. Really though in our hearts on our 4.5hour drive home, we where floored by images of people in our lives and our two universities and college in Ottawa. It'd be awesome to see the brothers and sisters in the University's of Ontario and Canada united in vision for our country. And have it all be about God.. His renown!

By Blogger SilQ, at 11/23/2005 11:05 AM

  • WOW! I've been running from God for so long and tonight, when I decided to go to Passion because it was the Christian thing to do, God had a different plan for me. He reminded me how small I am and how BIG he is. I have been trying to keep him in a box I made by my own limited understanding. Tonight...the X figure found so far away in the farthest reaching galaxies reminded me that I need to take the lid off that Box...I think Passion took the lid off the CANADIAN box. There is NO way people could have been there and not experience God as something bigger than they had before. Now I am expecting BIG things of God...like he wants me to!
What an experience. Thanks Passion for coming. You have passed the torch...now it's our turn to RUN!

By Blogger steph, at 11/23/2005 11:08 AM

  • Wow! Thank you to all the Passion staff! Thank you to God for bringing them here to Toronto! What a wonderful night we had being taking into the presence of God! The worship was amazing and the teaching was an awesome reminder of what a powerful and loving God we serve. I am so glad to have been a part of the first Passion Canada(many more I hope)

By Blogger Beth, at 11/23/2005 11:12 AM

  • Thanks Passion!
You left me totally speachless (emotionally and literally :)) lastnight...our God is truly an amazing and merciful God to love such small and sinful creatures like ourselves! I was soooo humbled. I am totally revived and ready once again to be on fire for God! Thank-you so much to the Passion team and all those University students down there who made this night possible...God Bless you all!

  • I am a Student at Seneca College Newham campus, and have been a part of a piloting of a Christian Fellowship on campus. Its been a rough start. The logistics of getting things done and finding ppl interested in helping to run it has been tough. Last night Seeing campuses around the city, with Christian student run groups was so encouraging, and reaffirming. I want love to pour out on my campus. I saw its affects last night. God is at work, and you can't deny that. Thanks guys,
keep Seneca Newham campus in your prayers,

By Blogger Ruthie, at 11/23/2005 11:36 AM

  • I was so blessed and encouraged and my view of God was enlarged because of Passion Toronto. My faith was increased and my prayer and hope is that although Passion Toronto is over, that God's work in Toronto would just be beginning and that we would see His glory and His fame made known as never before.
Thank you Passion team for your service to our Lord Jesus. May He bless you tenfold.

By Blogger Vaness, at 11/23/2005 11:42 AM

  • it's now the next day and still basking in the Lord's presence. You guys brought something special to Toronto and we thank you for sharing your ministy with us. I believe that God will bless your ministry abundantly for blessing us.

Passion, you are welcome to come to Toronto anytime you want. We will be waiting for the next time we meet.

    Praise be to God

By Blogger John, at 11/23/2005 11:56 AM

  • I cannot testify in words how amazing last night was. I sat in awe surrounded by God's love and the Holy Spirit's presence amongst thousands upon thousands of other university students across Canada. I was very encouraged to hear the thousands of voices praying in a unified voice and the 30 or so people from my campus, University of Toronto at Mississauga.

After the night ended, we gathered as one campus body upstairs in Ricoh and just surrounded each other in prayer. This was definitely a good start because our campus definitely needs prayer.

I thank the Passion team for being a great catalyst in God's ministry in all of our separate campuses. I thank God for what He's done so far and what He will continue to do that we cannot even fathom with our human minds.

God bless everyone who was there last night, may you continue to keep praising God's name for His renown and for the Passion team that your ministry can continue to reach billions of other university students across the globe!!

It was a great message Louie, I personally know it has touched the hearts of many.

    PRAY for UTM.

  • Dear Louie & the rest of the team,

Thanks so much for coming here to Toronto (hope you can do it yearly?? in the dead of winter, perhaps??). You guys were such a blessing - & the pictures are incredible! Thanks for the reminder - It's not about me, it's all about God! Unfortunately, not a lot of young people in our church were able to come, but those who did were really blessed! Again, gracias!

  • Passion Team, every aspect of last night was AMAZING.

But the best part was your talk , Louie with all those pictures from the Hubble telescope. It really blew my mind to see how big the universe is and how much bigger our God is. It was such a great reminder of the power and sovereignty of God.

    Thank you.

By Blogger shellieos, at 11/23/2005 12:56 PM

  • Thanks Passion bunch,

You've blown away my nerve receptors that help understand just how big God is. More and more I know just how small I am, and yet God listens to each and every one of us come to Him in praise and worship. Why does He do that? Why would He listen to me? It's simply amazing.

I went with my bunch from Campus Crusade for Christ in Guelph and we brought 2 busloads of people including Asian Christian Fellowship and IVCF. This is the beginnings of unity in the works. And to see the uncoordinated presence of many of my church friends from Toronto blew me away that even though I don't know about it, God is working all over the place.

God has bigger plans for the GTA's students, bigger than Youth on a Hill, bigger than Passion Toronto. It's a huge wave coming, thanks for helping to usher it in.

By Blogger Silas, at 11/23/2005 12:57 PM

  • Thank you so much for bringing the Passion Event out to Canada! I really do hope that you guys can bring it all again and let other Canadians experience what we had experienced last night!!

Thank you Chris Tomlin! Thank you Charlie Hall! Thank you David Crowder Band! Thank you Louie Giglio! Thank you Passion Team!!!!!

    Finally, Thank you God!

I'm sure that all the clubs at Western are very grateful for all of your hard work. May God bless us all.

  • Louie,

Thank you for listening to a couple of silly university students 4 years ago at the Worship Together conference in Toronto, and for recognizing our hunger and thirst for something greater than ourselves and our small dreams.

Though we're not all in university any longer, I'm thankful that you heard us and pursued your vision and burden for our wonderful city anyway. My friends and I are so grateful for the work that you do through Passion. My heartfelt thanks to you and your team.

By Blogger clare, at 11/23/2005 1:44 PM

  • OH, MY...I''m usually in the secular seens in the city due to my work and affiliations, nevertheless, I've never seen that much Twentysomethings worship God with such intensity and at such great capacity. It's really scary and dangerous to see what God is going to do, let's pull up our sleeves ppl and go to work. By the way, Much respect and love to Giglio and his staff, thks for igniting the flame! Peace.

By Blogger Big Z, at 11/23/2005 2:08 PM

  • Yes I admit...I went to the Hubble site when I got home...lol. The pictures that were used last night just floored me and reminded me of how HUGE God is and how powerful he is. And Louie, along with being an awesome speaker who definitely got to me, you were hilarious. lol.
And the worship -- WOW!!! All the bands were incredible. Absolutely AWESOME!!!!! When Chris Tomlin led "How Great Is Our God"...wow that was probably the biggest moment for me personally of the whole night. I love all of you guys and I will be praying for you and the amazing impact and influence that you are able to have on so many young Christians/young not-yet-Christians :) The fire for God was definitely fueled last night and I came away with a renewed passion for him. This experience will stick with me for a long time!!

Thank you again for coming to Canada and please please PLEASE COME AGAIN!!!! :)

Last January, 8 of us from Ottawa, Canada drove down to Nashville for Passion 05, and since we got the news about the Toronto event, we have been extremely excited, and have been praying often.

Here's a photo I stitched together for you guys to take a look at. I'll put more up on my church's website when I can.

It really hit home for me, the message was all about how we are smalll and i loved it, don't ask why i just did. The pictures just made it all seem so real(cause it is)and just drove the message home. Dave and Chris and Charlie are amazing and i love music so i mean i was going nuts. It was basically life changing and I'm not sure if you guys read this but i want to thank each and every person who is in someway connected to this event, so, thanks from the bottom of my heart. • Passion,

I think we as followers of Jesus need to display what we personally do best. Whether it is cleaning toilets or leading 4500 university students, either way we need to do it for HIM. So be the best you can be and let your talents be exposed. That is exactly what Passion did last nite. Seeing GOD's hands mold such a perfect nite. Thats what I personally loved about the passion conference in toronto. Chris Tomlin, Charlie Hall, Louis Giglio and David Crowder and the rest of each teams band members play with such a passion. Yea you guys have talent, but the way you use it is just so incredible. May all the glory be to HIM and may this ministry recieve blessings that pass the world's expectations. God is truly INDESCRIBABLE!!!

  • It's more than just the music. I think I came to Passion with all the hype and razzle dazzle in my heart. Thank God that He showed me that there was more to it than just a good message, a good event.

  • What an incredible night of worship and praise to our creator. Thanks to all the team for bringing Passion to Toronto. I think it opened the eyes of many to what can be done and what is being done outside our little corner of the world.
As a pastor I was so thrilled to witness the immediate impact on those who witnessed the awesome power of God at work.
Thank you for being the conduit for God to impact so many.
    So you soon!?

Thank you so much for coming to Canada. What an amazing God we serve! Your ability to step back into the shadows and allow all the glory to be placed onto God was incredible. Thanks for letting God use you to do what He wanted in Canada!

  • Passion,

What a night! Praise the Lord! Thank you for coming to CANADA. I am not from there I live in Virginia. My fam lives in Marietta, and I use to work with the College Ministry at NPCC. Havin attended a Passion Retreat and years of 7:22 this ministry has been building blocks in my walk and knowledge of the Lord. In Toronto, I have to say the hunger and desire for the Lord was reveting. God is stirring His people and used Passion as a spoon. God has uniquely designed Tornoto with represetatives from all over the Globe. There is a Harvest among the students and people of Tornoto. For those of you who live there I will continue to pray for you and the fame of the Name. Tuesday night the Lord Ravished my heart, and I will forever be changed. Praise God. Thank you Passion and students of Toronto.

  • I came to Passion as a volunteer. I chose a seat almost behind the stage off to one side. It was not the best view of the stage but an incredible view of the crowd. I spent about half the concert observing students worshiping. It was an awesome sight. As I scanned the crowd, I focussed on different faces and prayed for them individually that they would stay on track and keep Jesus at the center of their lives. I am so thankful for Passion and I pray that Passion will still be uniting Christians for my kids' generation.

  • Okay, I wasn't in Toronto with everyone.... but just reading all of the comments takes me back to passion 05 in Nashville, TN. It was such a life changing experience for me. I can only pray that it was the same for those who attended in Toronto... Knowing what I know about God and how big He works... I rest assured that it was that and much more! Keep rockin on Passion team - see you in again in Nashville in a few weeks! I also rest assured that you'll have more pictures to show off from Toronto then! :) Strive in all you do to bless the Lord. Peace out.
