The Toronto Story Is Bigger Than Just One Night

God is always at work, painting on a canvass bigger than our ability to fully comprehend. He's in motion before we arrive on the scene and continues to accomplish His purposes long after we have gone. Our role is to be "with Him" in the moment, carrying well the baton while it's in our hands...faithfully passing it on to those who follow while always remembering those who have gone before.

While Passion was in Toronto for one night, God's story in your city has been going on since the beginning of time. There is a rich history there of God's faithfulness as generations of men and women have sought to follow Him and make Him known. And He's doing amazing things today! Just think of the amazing sight of seeing almost 5000 university-aged young people going for His heart in worship last Tuesday. But was that all the university-aged followers in the city? Of course not! Some had to work. Others had classes they couldn't skip. :) And I'm sure some (despite the fact that the buzz was massive) didn't even know about it. (we missed you).

Hopefully, we are now convinced that there is a small army of believers on the campuses of Ontario, and certain that army is much bigger than what we saw last Tuesday night. God is at work in the GTA. His kingdom is advancing in every part of the city!

Why did we come? Because we love university students and fully believe you are at the pivotal crossroad of life. And because ignited in vision and passion you can change the world around you. And we hoped a night like this would help us all see that there are Jesus-followers everywhere in Toronto, a city strategically poised to touch the whole world for His renown.

Our prayer is that the vision God has planted in your hearts will be strengthened exponentially because of Passion Toronto... vision for what He is doing and can do and vision for how much louder our voices are when they are one.

We at Passion have carried the desire to come to Toronto for several years now, but we couldn't have done it by ourselves. Passion Toronto was fully paid for by the students at Passion 05! Thank you to the those who gave so kindly last year in Nashville. God used your generosity to make Passion Toronto possible, and we were humbled by the opportunity to invest your resources in such a beautiful city filled with endless possibilities. We are grateful.

Many of you have asked about a video of the night. Sadly, the night will have to live in our memories as we did not set all the plans in motion necessary to make a CD or DVD of the night. But we did shoot footage of Passion Toronto that will be made into a short glimpse of the night to be shown at Passion 06 and beyond as we continue the Boston, NY, Toronto story, and invite many to consider the opportunity to join you in Canada as God does more than we could ask or imagine.

  • "And we hoped a night like this would help us all see that there are Jesus-followers everywhere in Toronto, a city strategically poised to touch the whole world for His renown."

-this is a truth we carry in our hearts, toronto is a gatway to the nations.

"vision for what He is doing and can do and vision for how much louder our voices are when they are one."

thank you for understanding what we in this city have been praying for a long time. REVIVAL THROUGH UNITY. we stand and kneel alongside you as you embark to share this amazing passion all over the world :)

  • Just think of all the other cities out there that are waiting for you to come as well. I am so thankful Louie for what you have done with Passion and hope you continue to see more and more people gathered for one purpose - to see God's name lifted up. I wish I could go to Passion '06, I was in Nashville last year and loved it and my life was changed. Keep up the work God has called you to.

  • Louie and passion team, Our God is so awesome we see him again and again, working in small and big ways as you have seen through Gods work through passion. I want to thank you for the influence that you and Passion has had on my life and my friends. I have known about passion for years and havn't been able to go because of my age. I am so excited to go in '07. I saw you during the Indescribable tour in Portland Maine. it is not often that a tour that incredible comes to Maine, you have to come back!!! Keep up the great work. God is using you in mighty ways. I would love to be involved in Passion some day, worshiping God and bringing Him to the world are my passions. I am praying for you.

    In awe of His Bigness,

  • Historic city is right! The very first Urbana Conference (the massive tri-annual global missions conference for university students) was held at the Univeristy of Toronto, long long ago. I stand in awe at how many university students are so passionate in worshipping God today. Props to the Passion crew for uniting us and sparking our fire. :)

For the rest of us, lets not let this flame wither. Keep it blazing!

  • Thank you Eddie, Louie, Charlie, Chris and David - as well as all of the incredible people of Passion for loving Canada and for ministering to our university students! It was an honour to volunteer at the event - a small token of my appreciation for FACEDOWN and the blessing THAT gathering was for me as a worship pastor and a songwriter. I will pray that these events will continue to ignite you all, and keep you close to Jesus. I also pray for protection for this vital ministry, and that Passion 06 will be all that you dreamed it would be.

Please continue to pray for Ontario (we are an hour away from Toronto) and for local ministries such as James Street, that we would see a revival in the lives of young and old for His renown!

    God bless you all!

  • Hey LOUIE...
So, just as the legacy has included us, now we want it to continue to other cities as well. I can't believe the response even to the blogs, and after Passion Toronto, the students of Western had a great event Sunday night where students came to know Christ. WOW! Exciting. But...can you tell us how much we raised in Toronto? Will we be able to continue the legacy and support another outreach to new and needy city like ours?
That is what it is all about...MULTIPLICATION! For his renown!

  • Does anyone remember what passage Louie used when he quoted what was spoken over Toronto during the centennial celebration?

I'm thinking it was Isaiah 62:10-12...Is this right?

  • You have been such an encouragement to me; and to those closest to me. We were blessed exceedingly by your fellowship in Toronto, as we have been by publications and the like. There are no words to say what the members of Passion I can name mean to me. It can only be likened to family. God bless and with much love that I can’t understand. Your sister,
