Please Come To Boston

These lyrics, made famous in another generation by Dave Loggins and more recently by Mr. Kenny Chesney, are echoing in our hearts as we now are just a few weeks away from Passion's return to New England. While everyone has heard of the Green Monster, Boston Harbor and the storied institutions like Harvard and MIT that dot the landscape, we see more. Boston, and New England as a whole, is a collegiate epicenter that shapes the world. Boston alone has close to 300,000 university students on 80 campuses, but those numbers both skyrocket when you extend to neighboring Connecticut, New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Maine and beyond. As a result, those like Passion who value university students cannot help but focus on Boston and NE as a whole.

But, beyond the sheer numbers of students and campuses of influence, we are drawn to Boston and New England because of the challenging spiritual climate. People say it's a spiritually dark city, and I agree. In the little video story we have included you'll see me down at Faneuil Hall in the midst of a huge election event, talking about people coming to worship Jesus at a Passion Tour event a few blocks away. As I was speaking on camera a women walking behind me, when hearing the name of Jesus, came up behind me and tried to put some kind of hex on me. Strange as that sounds, it's a fit with the spiritual tension that permeates the city.

Any Believer in Boston who is remotely “awake” will tell you the battle is real and the enemy has a foothold there. Yet, we are not going to New England in the name of Passion...or any person. We head to Boston in the name of Jesus Christ, and are going there for His renown. Sure, we expect opposition on many levels, but we are not going alone. This little Blog holds much potential, and the Passion Movement circles the globe. So our hope is that these words will marshal a wave of faith as people start aiming their prayers of hope and light toward New England. We are not foolish enough to roll into Boston without such an effort, and are humbly asking you to walk beside us and cover us with your prayers in these days.

On our first trip to the city (see video) we had the collected prayers of 33 Tour cities behind us as we arrived in Boston. This time around we don't have that luxury and are asking God to raise up people from the north, south, east and west who will stand with us for the duration of this gathering…starting now.

If you don't already know, Passion Boston is October 12/13 in the Agganis Arena on the campus of Boston University. Schools start later in NE than the rest of the country and students are just returning to campuses. So please help us spread the word to anyone you know in New England and pray that Passion Boston will be huge catalyst for the coming year as students unite to make Jesus famous on their campuses and throughout the northeast.

LG

PS- The two videos tell the story of Passion's first official Boston stop in 2003, and will give you a taste of why we are so passionate about this step in our journey.

  • Louie , you may have had 33 cities behind you praying for Boston on the last tour, but as I recall you had 33 countries represented at Passion 07.It looks to me then that you could have global coverage in prayer for this event, and the others !

As always we will be praying for every aspect of the event to run smoothly. But more importantly that young lives are transformed forever because they catch a glimpse of the glorious Son of God.

Praise God that " We head to Boston in the name of Jesus Christ, and are going there for His renown."

  • Lord you are King over all the earth. Show us your glory, Lord. I don't know what it will look like, but I can't wait to see what you will do in Boston.

    Psalm 145:8-12

The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.

    The LORD is good to all;
he has compassion on all he has made.

    All you have made will praise you, O LORD;
    your saints will extol you.
They will tell of the glory of your kingdom
    and speak of your might,
so that all men may know of your mighty acts
and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.

  • also.. as I was watching it dawned on me.. hey I have this dvd. Then it amazed me of Gods faithfulness and now it is double.

( wish this thing had edit, ha, ha, could have just added to my last..)

I love your dependancy on the Lord, and how you said.."the shirt off our backs moment." Just even having that drive and faith really encourages me, and I pray many others. To trust God for the big things and leave the outcome in His hands, to be faithful and take that leap off the cliff so to speak. Knowing His hand will be there always. Knowing He knows the outcome.

For me the doors have been closed to go to any of these passion events, but I continue to pray God will someday when His time is right bust the doors wide open for me. And when that time comes as yours did oh will it be ever sweet. And of all excellence.

  • Praying with you and for you!

Yes, that area is in desperate need of a God awakening. Some years ago, my sister was given a glimpse into the spiriutal realm of that area. What she describes is beyond horror and belief. It is overwhelming filled with darkness and demonic activity. To this day, she can barely speak of what she saw.

I will definitely be praying for you all. It is going to be a battle, but God will overcome!

  • I'll definitely be praying for the Passion Boston event, and I'll pray for the Lord to stir up prayer coverage far greater than any of us can imagine! I'll pass the word around and recruit as many prayer warriors as I can to cover this event. Wish I could attend!

Any chance of doing a webcast of some sort for those of us who can't be there in person? Just a thought...know that for every person there, several more of us will be there in spirit, uplifting you in prayer!

  • Hey Louie,
    I remember that song...
    but who's Kenny Chesney? ;)

I know what you mean about spiritually different climates in different regions, it's true and at times so tangible. I will be praying for 268 team Passion-Boston...

    - that He would prepare the way before you... grant you discernment... be your covering...be your shield... & fill the place with His light!
-That every student the Lord wishes to touch there will come & not be hindered... with a hunger & a heart to hear... that what they absorb there will help them to grow in their walk with Him and have a greater impact for Jesus
    - that you will have a volunteer team that is unified and well able to accomplish all that needs to be done
    - that the Lord's hand would be on every logistal detail, the planning, the technical aspects, the production, and for safety
    - that all the musicians and teachers would be open vessels that He can pour through... that He would give you each direction
    - that He would be glorified and that what He wishes will be accomplished in the heart of each person

    blessings~

  • Isaiah 60:1-3,
"Arise, SHINE, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.
See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you.
Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn."

    Colossians 1:13-14
"For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption(through his blood), the forgiveness of sins."

-Prayers for my precious friend Shelly as she ministers to students at MIT...
-Prayers for the Passion team going to Boston...

    Father God,
Protect them with Your full armor so that they may stand firm in the frontlines of this battle...

We pray in the Spirit on this occasion with all kinds of prayers and requests. Help us to be alert and to always keep on praying for all the saints...

  • hey louie,
I just wanted to let you know that this past wednesday I listened for the first time your message you gave this past sunday at north point about when life hurts the most. It included the story of Ashley, and her family.

On friday morning, my phone rang. I found out my grandma passed away thursday night. she was 90, and had been living in a nursing home for over a year now. we knew it was coming. But, I guess nothing really prepares you for it in the end.

What struck me most, I think, was that more than missing my grandma, I feel like I'm reevaluating my life, its direction and purpose. You'd be surprised if I told you what I do, because it's something that I think a lot of people dream of (myself included). I just don't know if it's 100% where I am supposed to be.

Anyways, I don't know for sure if you read these, but I guess I'm just trying to follow Ashley's example and reach out. I want to do great things for God, but I'm not sure I know how.

You've been a great inspiration to me over the last few years, ranging from staying up until 3 in the morning at Bible college listening to your messages at 7\22, to having the opportunity to hear you speak at the GMA's in Nashville in '06. So, I guess I just wanted you to know that your teaching has meant a lot to me.

Take care, and hopefully one day I'll have the chance to meet you in person and shake your hand.

    Pat

  • Passion Boston will be amazing and I will be praying for this event.

I was planning on attending it and already registered since I attend school in New York City, and am from Boston. Unfortunately, a conflict has come up and I will not be able to make it. (I'm planning on going to the DC event in February instead.)

If anyone sees this comment and is planning on registering for the Boston event, please contact me so that I can transfer my registration to you!!

    Thanks!!

  • There seems to be a weightiness to this trip your making. What I mean is, a real importance to the things that the Lord is doing in this time as far as Boston is concerned.

I have had this word about the importantance that Boston holds for the for the rest of the US and the Move of God that is now arriving. It is a spiritual gate to the rest of America. You can see this historically with the first English settlers colonizing in this area. There are true parallels in these facts traced back as far as how Abram first entered into the promise land and established a altar near Bethel. His son Jacob experienced the open heaven here in a dream when fleeing from his brother. He also was given the generational promise of his father in THIS PLACE.

Upon returning from being with Laban, he wrestled with the angel not far from Bethal, and if memory serves me right, it is the place of Abraham's second altar in Canaan where he began not only to sacrifice unto the Lord, but to call upon His Name.

What is also intresting is that if you trace Abram's intial entrance into the land of promise, and look at Jacob's return from his exile, you will find that they match exactly. I say all that to say that their is huge significance to the places of our original entry and the promises given to our American fore fathers. Even a breif overveiw of the orignal documents and writtings of those who pioneered this country will leave you with a realization of the strong sense of destiny and divine providence that they were being moved by.

This is the reason the enemy has done much to fill the city with his pricipal of darkness. The gate of the city of Boston is the Gate to the United States. Hre is another intresting tid bit, Wewndy Alec of God TV had this amazing revelation concerning Boston not to long ago. You can check it out on there websight, go to the Video On Demand section (sign up if you haven't already) and watch the behind the Sceens video for 13 July 2007. It is about five minuets into the video when Wendy starts speaking on this.

I believe you are being sent to soften up the target area for a major spiritual offensive to open up this ancient gate to our land.
