Hello From Boston!

Boston is up and running...in fact we've had three amazing sessions and are on dinner break right now, so wanted to send a quick update. The Red Sox crushed the Indians last night a half mile away from here, but no one in this building seemed to care. We kicked off the weekend with a massive celebration as over 1200 students converged from all across New England with a huge desire to go after God and they made so much noise it sounded like 10,000!

Thank you for praying for us and for them. God is stirring deep things and healing deep wounds. Two plain crosses are on the floor of the arena, places people can go to kneel in each session as they encounter the truth God is speaking over them. Under each cross is a basket of blank cards and students have been writing their prayers and responses to what God is saying in their lives. As we have prayed over the cards after each session we have been floored at the depth of the struggles, the honesty and the cries for deliverance, restoration and hope. We have one session to go tonight and we are asking God to let the Kingdom come here, now.

I cannot tell you how humbled and happy we are to be here. This is what Passion is all about...lifting up the name of Jesus right smack in the middle of a university campus. The Agganis is the hockey arena for Boston University (that's a really big deal up here!) and it's exactly where we want to be. It seemed almost every student raised their hand when I asked who had never been to a Passion event before......crazy. That's why we're here.... to make the commute shorter for them and make it possible for them to join the movement of what Passion is all about.

For His fame in Boston and throughout New England.

  • I’ve spent this evening working on a project on my computer while listening to one of my Hill song cds. The moment I started reading this blog the song “fire fall down” began to play, and when I got to the line in your blog regarding the response cards this line of the song “you came to fix my broken life”

Cause I know that You're alive
You came to fix my broken life
    And I'll sing to glorify
    Your Holy Name
    Jesus Christ

    You changed it all
    You broke down the wall
    When I spoke and confessed
    In You I'm blessed
Now I walk in the light
    In victorious sight of you

    Your fire fall down
    Fall down
    On us we pray

Praying for your session tonight. I know lives are being moved. Was a volunteer at Passion in Atlanta and saw the impact God had on my life at that event, as well as my friend Michael Ann from Austin. She felt the call to missions, when she went back to Texas she quit her job and started training classes. September she left for Germany for a year.

    Praise God!

Thank you for posting the lyrics to Fire Fall Down (which I don't even know if that is the actual name of the song). I've had that one on my heart for several days as well- especially the "Fire fall down" part.

  • Hey Louie,
thanks so much for the update, it is great to hear what God is doing in Boston! I love hearing how you all are praying over the cards the students are leaving at the cross...
...praying for the students that the ways God is moving in their lives this weekend will take root deep in their hearts... that they will find healing, hope & new reservoirs of strength in Him... that they will each be drawn closer to Him ...and Shine :)
    blessings all ~

This weekend in Boston has been amazing and we are now all praying for our brothers and sisters in the next 5 cities. • iniThanks to MR. GIGLIO (*smiles*) and the rest of the PASSION team. These past 2 days have been wonderful and affirming. God's promises to me are beautiful and sometimes hard to TRULY believe, so it is nice to be reminded - especially through the music. Thank you, too, for convicting me to DO. It is our responsibility as Christians to be IN THE WORLD shining the light and love of Jesus through our words and actions.

Thank you for living God's calling.

  • It was a blessing and a privilege to serve alongside you in Boston. I don't have the words to express what was birthed in the hearts of so many people these last 2 days. I've seen the slimmest of slivers of what God has opened wide and it's just simply dumbfounding.

A million thanks for loving on, serving, and praying for Boston. God certainly made a way for us all these last 2 days.

May God heap blessing upon blessing as the regionals tour continues and those strong sails of this movement catch the gale-force wind of a hurricane.

  • Thank you Jesus for Your work on the cross and the healing that still comes from You through it.

Humbled, yet again, by what I've heard God has done this time in Boston over these two days..

  • wow, it was amazing to be in Boston. It was worth travelling all the way to Boston! It was amazing to meet the Passion staff! Mr Giglio you floored me with the fact that you knew who I was, haha.

But most of all I HAD AN AMAZING TIME. God was moving big time in the hearts of everyone who was there. HE'S THE FAMOUS ONE, HE'S THE ONE WE ARE LIVING FOR.

  • Louie!!!

(or Mr. Giglio, if you prefer)...

WOW. Stunned. That's all I can say as I stare at the cross. Passion Boston was a wonderful and beautiful picture of Jesus changing a city where greater things will come. Thank you so so much, Louie! I so love the Passion movement, but love Jesus a trillion times more. This was definitely a remedy for the city of Boston. After the World Tour, i hope you guys can come back to Beantown again, sometime.

I got the experience of my life tonight...at the last main session, I was on the floor in the fourth row. I'm sure you didn't recognize me (the one with the red sox hat and goatee haha), but I was so honored to just be down there worshiping with you and chris and steve. I'll never forget this day. thank you so much for coming to boston.

my prayer and dream for my life is to someday get the opportunity to lead that many people in worship like chris, charlie, dave and matt get to do each night. thank you for helping me better realize that God has a direction for me and a purpose for me. Wow!

...now go out there and SHOCK this world with the story of the redemption of Christ. the time has come to take the world by storm with Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God bless you and all in the Passion movement!

  • I just listened to the Boston podcast, and I have been wishy-washy about whether or not I could afford (both financially and temporally) going to one of the regionals, plus I just moved to a new city for grad school and didn't want to go alone, but I asked the one person I've met here who has heard of Passion if she wanted to go to Chicago with me, and now I'm going. Look for us coming from Columbus!

Thank you for coming to Boston and I pray that GOd will continue to use the momentum that's been building up and break down anything that's hindering these students. It was an honor to serve along side all of you and I hope, God willing, to be able to help at Passion:DC.

God bless and may He keep you safe and provide everything that's needed not just for the US leg of the tour, but for the World Tour.

  • Praise God for how He poured out His Spirit at the Agannis arena during the past two days! I wasn't there, but I sense the power of His work in those who were!

Lord, please seal the work You did in each heart, and continue to pour out Your love and power in and through each life. Bring revival to each campus represented through all you have done and will do in the lives of those who attended. In Jesus' name, amen!

  • This weekend really revitalized my spirit. I have been in a dead period for awhile and i'm so glad that through Passion, i was able to reconnect with God again in a more personal and active way. i don't know how God works the way he does because it seems so simple: one weekend + worship + Word = loving God in a more passionate way all over again.

  • Mr. Giglio,
Your team is an amazing collection of people. Thank you for being so obedient to God's will. We will lift up the remaining 5 cities in prayer as they have done for us. Boston will never be the same; we are too inflamed with passion for God to back down now. May the floodgates burst forth all over the world and may the name of Jesus be known to ALL!

  • Louie,

It was absolutely amazing to serve with Passion in Boston this weekend. I don't even really have words to describe my experience. I was so excited to go and just serve the students who would be attending. I never expected that I too would have my heart filled to the top with exactly what I needed. It was an unexpected and humbling experience.

I sent you an email through the general mailbox about my experience on Friday night. Just incredible. God is so amazing.

Thanks doesn't even begin to say what I am really feeling...but I feel unable to truly express my thoughts.

God Bless you, and looking forward to *hopefully* serving in DC!

    Kate

p.s. It was fun to briefly shake your hand (I was the volunteer with the striped scarf that you complimented) It was very kind of you to ask me how I was doing. Thank you for that.

  • Dear Mr. Giglio,

I just want to thank you so much for coming to Boston! You truly changed my heart and my life. You know, I wasn't one of those non-Christians who, by the grace of God, changed into a Christian. I was actually a Christian who lost his way and had weak faith. I believed for a long time that God was real, but for sometime now I feel like He's been absent from my life. I felt like He had great plans for everyone else but me. After coming to Passion, I felt my heart was renewed and restored. I felt a happiness and joy that I haven't felt in a long time. I'm not talking about a giddiness feeling when I saw Charlie Hall or Chris Tomlin. I'm talking about a feeling of true joy that you can only feel when you're in His presence. The last night you guys were here I saw a glimpse of what heaven would be like. A place where we can sing praises to God all the time with brothers and sisters all around us. I didn't need to know the person next to me to love Him, I loved him because Jesus loved him and because Jesus loved him and died for him (and me) I can call him my brother.

You mentioned how some people are chosen and some people are called to do His works. When Passion arrived I felt a calling from God to go. I don't know why, I personally thought it would be just another Christian concert but it wasn't... it was sip of God's true power, mercy, and love. From this point on, my love for God has skyrocketed and I want to do more of God's work. I know this is a long e-mail but Mr. Giglio I have a message for you: " Mr. Giglio, thank you for all you've done and showing me how broken I really was. Thank you for sharing to me a sip of the true heaven...and the true love of God."

    A brother from Christ,
    Abe

  • I was at Boston with a few of our students who drove all the way from Philadelphia to take part in the event. In a word: AMAZING!

To hear the words spoken and the songs sung and to witness the lives changed in those moments was truly breathtaking.

Don't miss out on these events when they come near you! And be prepared for the new Chris Tomlin song for the cities! Awesome!

  • As a volunteer in Boston, my prayer was for the volunteers...that in spirit and focus they would come and serve Jesus. God supplied the most amazing group of volunteers I've every been had the honor of serving with. From all over the country you came and poured yourself into the students. Even the most menial jobs were done with passion and I'm thankful for the Holy Spirit moving in your hearts! Thank you Boston for letting us serve your precious students and thank you God for showing up HUGE in the hearts and hands of the volunteers! HE IS GREAT!

I am so excited I get to go to the Chicago regional with some friends who couldn't make it this weekend. Looking forward to and praying for Chicago (Hopefully we can beat the 6 wells!).

  • Having been to Passion the past few years with thousands of people in participation, I had no idea what to expect in Boston. Coming from the South, we've got a church on every corner and it would not seem uncommon for a big chunk of college students to go to a passion event (even though we've still got thousands who wouldn't).

It was amazing to me to talk to the people on the T or around campus who were attending passion about how they had never been to a Passion Event. It was even more amazing to me that we didn't fill an entire arena and that registration took 5 minutes (we'll see if that happends in Atlanta).

The cool thing though, was to see the need for Jesus in Boston/New England and the responce of the people who were ready to do something about it. 1,200 people can make a difference even if the odds seem way against them and I believe they will.

Passion, you made a good move by going to the people (plus, I got to go to a way cool new city which I fell in love with - yes, that is selfish, but hey). I can't wait to hear about the amazing things that will result from this weekend. Boston, you have a place in my heart! Help New England know Jesus.

Piper, you said exactly what I've been trying to do and express through my life, but you explained it way better! I really hope our generation gets this message!

  • Dear Passion Staff,

I am so thankful for your service and your commitment to spreading the fame of Jesus! His fame will outlast eternnity - what a marvelously humbeling thought!

I want you to know that this past gathering did more for me spiritually than I can express. With every new morning, Christ is unfolding the beauty of His worth, holiness, passion... to my heart. He is once agian cultivating an unquenchable hunger and thirst for His holiness within me. I must tell you, I was at a cross-road. I needed to decide whether I would adhear to Chrsit's call for holiness and purity - which deep down I knew was the path I should take - or if I should succumb to the deceptively, sweetness of selfindulgence. I was teetering on the precipice, but Hope reached out to me and set my feet aright! Temptation is washed out by the brilliance of Christ's holiness! How liberating!

With that said, I want to thank you. I am excited about the change in me. I am eagerly anticipating the fruit of a generation in awe and totally consumed by the holiness and purity of God.
