28 Day Journey-Day Nine
9 Kneel
Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the LORD our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Psalm 95:6-7b
Bowing down is probably more about the heart than about how close we are to the floor. Yet, when we are on our knees something seems to happen inside. Bowed down low we are both in a position of submission and vulnerability. That's why we're not down there more. Sadly, the tide of sinful pride causes to us to think that we can manage life on our own (with God's help, of course) and control the outcome of our days if we try. But, as it turns out, we can't control much at all, and when dark nights creep in and we find ourselves crushed by tragedy, we fall to the ground, collapsing helplessly at the feet of God, asking for mercy to sustain us one more breath.
It's sad that His beauty alone doesn't find us kneeling as often as the fury of this life does. But whatever drives us downward is a gift, because with our faces to the ground we are in the very best place we can be.
Tonight, one of our Passion staff is on a night flight to South America for her brother's impending cancer surgery. And over the weekend we received news that one of our Passion 06 Community Group leaders has been diagnosed with cancer, as well. This has been our journey this fall, one wave after another. We are weary from the blows and clueless as to how God is working. So we found ourselves on our knees today, tears flowing, defiant praises rising, healing pleas, confidence known, for mercy calling. While we bowed low we could see Him lifted high. And I sensed His great love...and knew that we are in the hands of Majesty. While we can pray in any position, there's a prize that defies description waiting for us down on the floor.
Today's prayer: (Let's find our way to our knees as we pray)
Great God, we are bowed before you, confessing that You alone are God. We are helpless, but You are limitless. Defend us. Save us God. Rescue us from the depths of death. Have Your way in us. We will lay down and sleep tonight because we are sheep in Your care. Our only hope is You.
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. For your name's sake, O LORD, preserve my life; in your righteousness, bring me out of trouble. In your unfailing love, silence my enemies; destroy all my foes, for I am your servant. Psalm 143:10-12
Father we lift these we love so much to You. We know that You are greater than cancer. We ask for Your mercy as You display Your power and glory in their lives. Thank You for Your grace today, sustaining them with more than this world has ever known. Lift up our Savior, Jesus Christ, today as You do supernatural things in them. Amen.
All through the day: I surrender.

Father we thank You so much that even when bad things happen to us you have assured us that we are under Your care.
So as we bow before You today we know that amid the fear, doubts and uncertainty of life You are in control. We ask that those who have been diagnosed with cancer receive healing and know Your peace.
May You be honoured and glorified as we submit to Your Lordship.

Almighty God- joined with Christ Jesus, for in Him we move & breathe & have our being- we call upon Your name/nature as Jehovah Rapha, the Lord our Healer. This is what You say about yourself in Exodus 15:26 & what You say is Truth- what You say is Life- what You say does not return void. You said, “Let there be Light” & there was- so we ask Elohim, Creator God, to speak forth certain creative miracles so that all will know that You & You alone are God. Your voice shakes the wilderness, Your voice hews out flames of fire. Your voice causes the earth to quake. Now w/ Your voice, Lord God, rebuke the disease, restore health & redeem the time for those who are in this fight. We choose to believe the report of the Lord that says by the stripes of Jesus, we ARE healed (Isaiah 53:5). Jesus, You took upon Your back our afflictions, diseases, infirmities and all the plagues of Egypt- every curse that is named in Deuteronomy 28, including pestilence, and wasting disease. For You are greater than cancer, & even that name “cancer” must bow to Your name. Yes, the thief comes to steal, kill & destroy, but YOU come to give life to the full. Release fullness of life to this brother in S. America & the cg leader. Should this young man have to undergo surgery, we ask for the skill, wisdom & direction of the Great Physician to be present – to triage the affected site w/ Your healing salve & irrigate the excised wound with Living Water. As a body of believers, we counteract & counter attack the venom & defilement of the enemy, speaking high honor & blessing over these children of God. We bless their physical bodies & speak resurrection life, hope & faith over them & into their hearing. From the north, south, east & west, please send encouragement to them; even in their dreams speak comfort to them & to their loved ones. Please surround them with Truth even if the facts state otherwise. Like those in the fiery furnace, let them gaze through the flames & see the Angel of the Lord with them (Dan, 3) Endow them with faith- Your supernatural faith to believe for healing & wholeness of spirit, soul & body; for the alignment of the tri-part man with Your Word. Nurse them back to health with the power of Your love. We behold the Resurrected Lord who sits at the right hand of God having said “It is finished.” We behold His Cross & bring to death on it everything having to do w/ cancer, cellular dysfunction, immune impairment, enzymatic/biochemical imbalance, genetic mutation, frame shift deletion, & generational curses that would yield the report they were given. Having said all things, in reverence but with boldness, we approach Your Throne of Grace, appealing to Your courts asking justice for these servants; that You would render a verdict in favor of them but in judgment of the enemy. We come believing w/ the woman of God who is standing beside her brother as he awaits surgery, that this will be a testimony of the miracle working power of Almighty God, Who never changes, the same yesterday today and forever. We intercede & pray for healing for the cg leader who received a less than favorable diagnosis yet we eagerly await a second opinion which will be from the desk of the Great Physician. For we decree (Job 22:18) & declare in the name & person of Jesus, the Messiah, that no uncircumcised philistine shall transgress this temple of the Living God. Show your power, O Holy Lord & release from w/in the Kingdom of God that brings order to every disjointed thing and establishes peace out of chaos. Let these be but the first fruits of the New Move of God- Let them be the first fruits of the greatest revival the created world has ever seen. Thank You Lord, for demonstrating Your love through the Cross, & we ask simply to glorify Yourself in & through these lives. For we know its not by eloquent prayers or the reguritation of Your word that brings the answer to prayer, it is purely by Your Soveriegnty & Grace- yet we speak these things in faith aloud into the hearing of the great cloud of witnesses, the body of believers & the powers of darkness to declare & proclaim that we take Our God at His Word, believing in Him AND believing Him. Be pleased with our faith,Father & do what You do best-that is show Your Glory! Amen.

Thank you so much for your post 268gen. The scripture references are exactly what I need to rest in today. Thank you for being so real & honest in your posting. What a poignant observation was made– “But whatever drives us downward is a gift, because with our faces to the ground we are in the very best place we can be.” Thank you so much for that reminder. Prayers will continue to be lifted for you & all involved in Passion & Wednesday night I’ll enlist some prayer requests at church; they’ll also be prayed for several times during the next month.
He is our Shield... our Defender... our Fortress... our Healer... our Way-maker... our Strength... our Peace. I’ve been reminded of these verses recently, may they encourage you
‘The Lord is gracious & righteous; our God is full of compassion’ – Ps 116:5
‘He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.’ – Isaiah 40:29-31
‘I am still confident of this; I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord, be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.’ – Ps 27:13-14
