A Beautiful Ending to A Potent Night

Thirsty has been a beautiful gathering of close to 1400 campus leaders from across the nation and the world. A dozen Japanese leaders and students are here from Tokyo, as well as others from Africa, Brazil and India. The days have been rich....and intimate. Tonight we celebrated Holy Communion, antheming Jesus and remembering His death for our life. There was quite a bit of shouting going on (communion was somewhat loud in places tonight!) and a lot of people falling face down in the presence of our awesome/merciful God. As the night ended some lingered for a bit, resting in His presence and contemplating the outrageous truth we shared together. I thought this was a fitting picture of the days...leaders bowed down with a glorious God.

Thanks to all of you who've been praying for us. We wrap things up at noon tomorrow and head to GMA in Nashville for what promises to be a pretty special week.

Given we are wall to wall at Thirsty, there will be no listening joy this Friday. But, it's only FIVE DAYS to your listening as long as you like. A saw a lot of CDs going out in the mail later today, so watch your box! We're looking forward to the madness of Tuesday. Let His renown echo from coast to coast!!

Drinking Him in,
Louie

  • Man... Thirsty was absolutely amazing. Tonight was the greatest night bar none that I've experienced in a while. Everyone in the Passion house should be commended for an outstanding work that they have done for His glory and renown in the lives of leaders this week. Praying that tomorrow's final sessions end smoothly and that GMA week is impacted by the power of the Holy Spirit and it not be about winning Dove Awards or selling CDs... that His name and His alone would be glorified...

  • Glad things have gone well so far! Been praying for you guys!

I must say that I can't wait for Tuesday! It's gonna be great to see how God uses this album!

I've been listening to the iTunes bundles a lot the last few days... it's been such a great encouragement to me as I've started my new job!

Thanks so much for all of the things you and the Passion Family do for God's glory, Louie! Can't wait until we can all get together again!

  • as a college student, i just wanted to say thanks to all those unnamed campus leaders (all over the world!) who are out there making an eternal investment into our lives on our college campuses. being involved with Campus Crusade, i see the dedication of the staff on my campus and i'm blown away at how much they love us and serve us and long to see us shaped into Christ-centered laborers. But of course it comes with it's challenges. It must be discourgaing at times to do campus ministry, but be encouraged that you are definitely impacting our generation. thanks for investing in us and building into our lives. it's a ministry of multiplying and your time with us goes deeper and further as we become equipped to go out and do the same. even if you can't see the fruit of your labor, the seeds that you plant and water in us will be grown by God.. for his glory, in his time. =)

sounds like Thirsty was a wicked time to be refreshed in worship and community! glad you guys enjoyed the week..

  • Louie, we are so glad the God has answered our prayers and met with the leaders there in Alpharetta.

What wonderful words you have chosen to convey the feelings and experiences.
    "Intimate,facedown,resting
    awesome/mercifulGod,contemplating, truth, glorious."
They give us a glimpse of how people connected with God.

May what was received from God refesh and fuel their hearts as they return to their campuses to minister in Jesus name.

  • "Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen." Ephesians 3:20-21 (ESV)

These are amazing times... How great He truly is!

  • I just finished listening to my pre-ordered CD and must say that it's fantastic! The production quality is amazing, the songs are amazing, and God is amazingly glorified through the worship of 18,000 sons and daughters of the King!

It's a beautiful glimpse of Heaven. How wonderful that one day in His presence we'll raise our voices together in a way that makes Passion CDs seem like a whisper in the wind!

  • What an amazing and awe inspiring time it has been at Thirsty!! What a feeling to truly experience Jesus in that place, not simply a feeling, but to actually be there with Him. I have been truly refuled and refreshed during this time, and can now go out and share with others what God has done for me the past three days. God bless you all and my prayers are with you this weekend at GMA.

  • So I was on my way to South Ga. today and my car overheated in the stop and go traffic around Stockbridge. I got off at an exit there. I was on the side of the road and only one car stopped to help. The conversation that ensued:

Driver and passenger: Hey man you all right?

Me: Yeah, just overheating a bit.

Driver: Yeah that stop and go traffic'll getcha. Something like the thermostat messing up or somethin'?

Me: I don't know, just changed the thermostat a few months ago, so I don't know. But I'll be all right.

Driver: Oh okay, yeah we just couldn't leave a fellow OneDay person hanging...

Confused at first, I soon realized I had the OneDay03 shirt on.

Me: (I'm sure I said "cool", "yeah!", "rock on", or some other hip word or phrase)

    Passenger: Where ya headin'?

    Me: South Georgia

Passenger: Oh really? How far you goin'?

    Me: About two hours.

Driver: You comin' back from the Thirsty Conference.

Me: No I actually go to college in Atlanta and I'm headed home.

Driver: Oh we're heading back from the Thirsty Conference over at Northpoint.

Me: Oh yeah! How was it?

Driver: It was awesome!...So you're gonna be all right?

Me: Yeah man thanks a lot.

End of the line. Car's out of commission even still. I made it back to school. Fellowship was nice :) Later.

  • Our flight home from Thirsty just landed about an hour ago . . . my mind hasn't stopped trying to process all the amazing truths that were spoken over us this week. Thank you so much to the Passion House for all of your work in putting together a moment in time that truly did refuel, refocus, and refresh.
I've heard Louie talk on Colossians a lot, but what the Lord spoke through him on Thursday night was truly amazing.
"may all those who seek the Lord, rejoice and be glad in Him; may all those who love His salvation always say . . . 'The Lord be exalted'"
We lift you up Lord, so that your name would be known.

  • Thirsty was great. It wasn't a pep rally and it wasn't a trade show and it wasn't a seminary lecture series... it was great.

There is such a dearth of resources for college ministers. It makes me wonder sometimes - are we supposed to have it all figured out and be totally self-sufficient? Is it somehow less important than youth ministry? Is it just that hopeless? Thanks for the encouragement.

Please do this again next year.

  • Louie I just want to say that Thirsty was absolutely amazing. It seemed as though everything said in both the breakouts and the main sessions was directed specifically to me. It was a MUCH needed revial and rejuvenator at which God did some incredible things. I am praying for ya'll and all that you have going on. Thank you so much for putting on another life changing event.

  • Thristy was AMAZING!!!! Thank you passion team for allowing God to work through you. I have never experienced communion so powerfully. Jesus was there with us and I left feeling more on fire than ever. Can't wait to use this fire to ignite others.

  • Do you still have squirrels in the passion house? If you do, then I just saw a fix for you. I watch "Ask This Old House", its like the best show ever. Anyway, this guy sent in this flashing light invention, it just pulses, sort of like a fire alarm light does when the alarm goes off. He claimed that its so annoying that the squirrels won't stick around.

  • was talking to some people going to thirsty... i'm sure it is awesome!

  • Just want to echo KRISTYO's sentiments.

So many conferences seem like a parade, with all the bells and whistles. Others seem like a short-lived charge to get fired up about things in ways that just don't have much staying power when back home.

But Thirsty... wow. So true to the slogan of "Rethink, Refuel, Refocus," you guys provided a beautifully laid back, refreshing opportunity for us as leaders to rethink why we do what we do, refuel for the year that lies ahead in just a few short months, and refocus our hearts and minds on God.

And here's another thing I really appreciated: seeing all the familiar faces from Passion's leadership jsut walkin' around with the rest of us, hanging out like the rest of us, taking it in like the rest of us. Louie, stuff like that communicates so much ... that's it's really NOT about you... that you're in this journey just the same as we are. It's a beautiful thing.

So, thanks again. Look forward to locking arms with leaders from around the world again next year!

  • That Thursday night worship service was absolutely amazing. I have never felt so in awe of God. Plus, He did something absolutely amazing in me that night. I felt like a newborn in my faith again. He set me free that night.

Thanks for yielding to His spirit. He got to me in a way like never before. Thank you

  • What more can be said: God is good, glorious, and the Lover of our souls. Forever may we ride the coat tails of His glory! SDG!

  • I know it's been a while since Thirsty, but the effect of my encounter with God still lingers in my heart and mind. And I know the same is true for my companions who went with me. One of the girls from my church that was there with me is here in the States for a year from the Netherlands. One of the days we were talking about how big God is and how powerfully he could move with so many people coming to the conferences every year. This girl, Elise, says in her beautiful accent, "Yes, and I will take it back to Holland and we will take over Europe!" I just thought you should know that you have a supervisor already in training for your Europe office;D Thank you for being obedient. Many people are being blessed because of you.
