Passion 07 Capacity Update!
Well, the phone's been ringing at the Passion House and lots of the questions have been about seating for Passion 07. Rumors are flying around about the dual venue setup and some are saying Passion 07 is already full. The real story is that we are NOT full and that we have room for you and your group. As well, the dual venue system is NOT normal overflow...not even close.
Info will be landing on the Passion site today, but for you Blog readers, here's the scoop. Please help us spread this info! Muchas gracias.
New Updates On Passion 07 Capacity, Seating
As we head toward Passion07 our projected attendance continues to outpace what we have seen the past few years. Because of this growth, we knew early on we could outgrow Philips Arena and began to look for options that would allow us to make space for as many people as possible. As a result, we are excited to be adding a second main session venue directly across from Philips Arena in the Georgia World Congress Center. While it's still possible that we will sell out, the additional venue will allow significant growth in Atlanta.
Here's how the dual venues are going to work:
First, it's important to note the additional venue is not overflow, rather a "live" venue with full production filled with thousands of people. Both venues will have live worship and other live elements. While the main messages will originate in Philips, both arenas will be linked together, making it possible for those leading in each location to communicate with the other. The additional venue will not simply be people sitting in a room watching the whole session on a big screen.
Everyone at Passion will rotate between the two venues. In other words, where you attend main sessions does not depend on when you register. The dual venue approach is something we will all participate in, giving everyone an equal experience in both settings. A wristband will be assigned at registration that designates who rotates when. An effort will be made to keep groups together, but we cannot guarantee everyone will be together for every single session. Yet, at most people will only be in the additional venue for two of the seven main sessions. The bigger picture is this: the additional venue may be the very thing that allows some of your friends to make it to Passion07, so we are asking people to embrace the idea in that spirit, knowing it will be a huge success if we all have the desire to include as many as possible.
What's most important is that we have plenty of room for you. While registration is trending higher than ever before, we have increased our capacity and have lots of space available with three months to go. Beginning in November we will post a weekly update of where we are capacity-wise, and update it even more frequently as we get closer to Passion07. You aren't going to want to miss it!

Sorry, this has absolutely nothing to do with Passion '07... I just picked up the new Tomlin CD... Congrats...
In a Christian culture that sometimes seems as commercially crass as the rest of American culture, this CD is an oasis...

Sounds great! This must be a God thing that there are so many people. Passion 07 will be awesome with so many people. For us that are still to young to attend we'll be waiting for the years when we can come!

Wow - how big is God!
Phillips Arena's seating capacity for concerts is listed at 21,000. My guess is the capacity for Passion is less because there is typically some open floor space, and unused area behind the stage, but assume for a second it's 16,000.
If people are spending 2 of 7 sessions in the GWCC then that's probably the ratio of GWCC to PA, which means that there will be about 5,000 people in GWCC!
I would rather be in a session with Chris, David, Matt or Charlie leading live worship and 5,000 full-on worshippers than I would be hanging from the rafters with 21,000.
Is it possible for 5,000 to seem more intimate?
Can you sign up to be exclusively in the smaller venue?
How about volunteers will they finally get to be a part of the smaller venue with live worship? That'll only raise it to 6,000 or so.

This is unbelievable the rate of growth of Passion. I would like to encourage you to maybe go the next step. It maybe too late this year. But to invite the whole world to be involved at the same time with the conference. Have campus groups or churches set up internet viewing points. They would follow the same outline of workshops and prayer groups as would be happening at the central Passion Conference. Each internet point would be a mirror of what was going on from the broastcast point. Have a small fee to cover internet cost.
Even if it was broadcasted live on internet I still feel you would have the same growth as you are experiencing now. Let's face it. When we talk and walk HIs Glory. It was met to Grow For His Glory.
Just a thought.
As you can tell I can't go. But like last year I will be praying for you all. Each session! And each Day.
God Bless you all.

Sounds like a cool idea! Especially for those who may not be able to make it there. It is more cool live, but if it could all over the world too, now cool can it get! Awesome idea!

Only a few months late here, but I was reading the back entries during lunch, and I have to say I thought the dual venues worked way, way, way better than expected. My friends and I went to GWCC grumbling about how we were going to be stuck with some worship leader we'd never heard of and wouldn't know the songs or be able to really get into it, and I have to say Steve Fee helped us call down the Holy Spirit in an amazing way, and the main session I had in GWCC might have been my favorite. It was awesome to see how much everyone participated and cheered, even knowing Francis Chan couldn't hear or see them.
