Chicago Rocked

OK, so you Midwesterners can make some serious noise...not just decibels in the building, either...but a serious shout of justice and kindness for the whole wide world to hear! Passion Chicago rocked as students from close to 300 colleges and universities gathered for a life-rearranging 28 hours that in many ways has just begun. You'd have to have been there to really appreciate just what God can do in such a short span of time, but it's phenomenal to watch and be a part of it as it builds and unfolds.

Some students came from far away places like Florida, Tennessee, California, Boston (yes Boston), South Carolina and Toronto. But most came from the heart of the nation, places like Notre Dame, KSU, ISU, Ball State University, Grand Valley State, Moody, IUPUI, The Universities of Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, South AND North Dakota State Universities, Purdue, Ohio State, Wayne State, Valapraiso, Wheaton, and so many more that I'd love to name. The best part was asking students in the opening session if this was their first Passion gathering and seeing 95% of the hands shoot into the air! That"s brilliant...and exactly why we are bringing Passion to you!

In an effort to wed worship and justice, the Do Something Now Campaign has anchored us both in Boston and Chicago. It's true God landed in our hearts with stunning power (healing, restoring, rescuing, inspiring, solidifying, releasing), but the result of His divine touch in us is now a wave of gratitude that spills over onto others in our paths...and even alters our paths to reach still others with the hope of His Kingdom. To that end, Passion Chicago brought 3036 towels and 9000 pairs of socks to be distributed through six partner agencies throughout the city. As well, they gave $32,612, enough to build over 10 wells in African villages PLUS $24,892 to help take an experience like Passion Chicago to Sao Paulo, Brazil. Your generous hearts are contagious and overwhelming, proof that God can and will use your generation in ways far greater than any of us can fully imagine.

All of us on the Passion Team thank you for letting us share such a beautiful and powerful weekend with you in Chicago. Next stop: LA!
Greater things have yet to come,
LG

  • 10 wells?!?! That's awesome! The Wave is growing, and not just in music or feeling, but in real concrete demonstrations of justice. This is just a start, imagine what those students can do when they work together to do more than just towels and socks, but outreach in word and deed.

  • the podcast was nothing short of amazing (short, matt, haha) 2 of my roommates (who didnt go) listened to it and they were so stoked about what us reserved mid-westerners accomplished, and i am so humbled to have been a part of it.
matts prayer spoke to me, cuz the past couple mornings when ive woken up at darkthirty, ive felt this amazing calmness knowing that i am deeply loved, and i was totally surprised by it. then when matt said that in the prayer my jaw dropped.

a lifetime of thanks to louie and all the passion peeps who work so hard will never suffice, so know that you are all deeply appreciated and you have changed so many lives, including mine. i will never be the same.

greater things have yet to come,
    tracy

  • "What a mighty God we serve!"

I am truly touched by hearing what God did in Chicago. Seeing the pictures of my peers in prayer....believe me, it doesn't get much better than that! (yes, even better than my Springboks winning the World Cup...)
Wow, I sit here thinking how many young hearts are sleeping much better tonight? Scored the HOME RUN at last...

Yours Forever - Thank You Father.

  • Praise God for the AWESOME things that He is doing and has already done through Passion Chicago! When we prayed about our campuses, I prayed for God to give me a burning in my heart for the lost at my community college in Indiana. Goodness, did He answer my prayers immediately. This first day back to class after the conference even! GIVE HIM ALL THE GLORY! I will never underestimate Him! Thank you to the Louie and the passion team for being committed to making Jesus famous!

  • wohoo!! It so rocked....and beyond!! Now the Midwest is taking that intensity to the campuses and shining for Him!!!

  • Chicago Passion was life changing for me. I needed it so much. Does anyone know the words for the song God of Yesterdays (I think that was the title)?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 10/28/2007 10:09 PM

  • I've only been a christan for about a year. At my home church, back in Buffalo, NY I had heard testimonys about how much Passion Atlanta had changed the lives of so many of the people that went, and i knew that i wanted to be part of something like that.

I now attend Regent University (aka Pat Robertson's school) in Virgina Beach. I was psyced to find out that Passion was coming to DC which is only about 2.5 hours away from me. I bought my ticket for the show already actually. But then I decided I was to excited, and really desired to be touched like all the people that I had seen that had attended before. Feb. was simply to far away, So me and my roommate packed our bags and decided to make the 15+ hour drive to Chicago. Let me tell you, I dont even think the word amazing summarizes it. I have been on fire for awhile nw, and Passion filled my heart with such a joy that I want to spread throughout my campus, I want everyone to experience what I have, everyone to have th ejoy that was placed in my heart when at passion. The drive was completly worth it!

Anyways, I am so excited about attending the DC show in Feb.I actually started a facebook group at my school for it, and have more than 60 people interested in going already, which is impressive since my school is so far. I spread the word to everyone I can about how amazing what you guys are doing was. I can not WAIT until DC! You guys have changed my life!
