28 Day Journey-Day Twenty Five

Thursday 12//29//05
25 Reverent Party

What? Can these two words go together? A reverent party? I think they can…and pray they will.

Reverence is recognition that we are not coming to an “event,” but coming as the people of God before the One who is radiant and pure. So holy, in fact, that if He did appear in visible form, His presence would send us crashing to the floor with blinded eyes.

The party happens when we glimpse the cross of Christ, truly seeing the price He paid to forever wash away our guilty stain, and cannot help but shout for joy.

At Passion 06 we want both. As we come into His presence we want eyes opened wide to His Majesty as we dance before Him as those set free.

Father, please help us. Help us live in the balance of Your Royalty and friendship-grace. May we, when we see You, “shout for joy and fall facedown.” Open our eyes. Free our feet. Move us with mercy to rejoice in You as we go to the world. Thank You Jesus, Amen.

But I, by your great mercy, will come into your house; in reverence will I bow down. Psalm 5:7

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our "God is a consuming fire." Hebrews 12:28

But the father said to his servants, 'Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let's have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' So they began to celebrate. Luke 15:22-24

Through the day: Jesus is the party.

  • "So let's keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision--you'll see it yet!" -Phil. 3:15 (Msg)

i feel so privileged to be among those going to passion06 and cannot wait to see how God chooses to move. even in preparation, the Lord is at work in my own heart because as is, it simply is not prepared for the immensity yet simplicity that is the cross. thank you for your support and encouragement!

  • this post reminds me of Ezekiel 44:4...

Then the man brought me by way of the north gate to the front of the temple. I looked and saw the glory of the LORD filling the temple of the LORD, and I fell facedown.

  • I just want to let you all know that I'm praying for you. Unfortunately I can't be there because I'm from Holland, Europe.
But It's so great that so many students have this huge passion for God and Jesus, it's incredible. I hope that the Passion events will extend to every nation in the entire world. God is Great!!!

  • Just a quick question...regarding the schedule posted for the breakout sessions at http://www.268generation.com/passion06/breakouts.html ...Under each breakout title it says monday or tuesday or monday and tuesday. Aren't the breakout sessions supposed to be on tuesday and wednesdays? So are mondays actaully tuesdays and tuesdays actually wednesdays? Or is it completely messed up?

  • Father, I pray that we come broken and expecting to meet with You at Passion06. I pray that we be excited about next week, not because of music, speakers, or a good time, but because we are given another opportunity to come as one generation seeking to see You and glorify You. I praise You because You are a God who we must stand in awe of You, yet You long to draw near to us. I praise You that the victory is already won, because of You Lord. May we live our lives in joy knowing that.

  • "I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom. One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts. They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty, and I will meditate on your wonderful works. They will tell of the power of your awesome works, and I will proclaim your great deeds. They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness." Psalm 145:1-7

Father, even today we exalt Your name. We joyfully anticipate a time of union with our brothers and sisters as we come together to praise You in Nashville. May You be the fire in our souls and the light in our eyes. Fill us so that we can overflow to the world around us.

  • WHen we feel so inadequate Father

When dissapointment with our limiting self-"sufficiency" comes....

    You are there

You are more than adequate... more than enough so to make me whole in you!

I pray for the unexpected Father.

Your power is mightier than i can fathom... and i humbly ask you to make your presence known in the hearts of nashville, and all preparing to attend passion.

I boldly proclaim the power you have over life and death, and the power to change lives!!!
    Amen!

  • So refreshing... I am expecting big things from Him at PASSION! Thank you, thank you, thank you, for following Him....

I have a story that I have to share and with it ask for your prayers...

I am working in my first year of nursing and the Lord has recently placed a special couple in my life. The husband is 23 and the wife is 21, so they are college age. With their permission I want to share their story and ask you all to join with me in praying for them.

I work on a brain injury floor of a rehabilitation hospital and the wife is one of my patients. They are sad that I am leaving them for a week to come to Passion but I have told them how wonderful it is and I told them I was going to share their story with as many people as possible.

She has suffered from a severe stroke to her brainstem that has left her unable to move her body or talk, but she can understand perfectly everything around her. She communicates with us by nodding her head. She also has complications with her lungs from a lack of movement. I am asking the Lord for healing in this situation and I am praising Him for what He has done already.

I am blessed to see His story in so many ways everyday, I just wanted to share this one with you all.

The couple is Jarrett and Crystal Kitchen.

Share this with anyone...I would love to have 17,000+ college students speak their name before our
Father. If there is any other way to share their story let me know...thank you!

  • I would like to say as someone who works in downtown Nashville year round, that the attendees were RUDE and obnoxious to the people that work and live in this town. When out running errands on my break this morning at 9 am, i couldn't walk down the street and these kids didn't know what "excuse me" meant. I attend lots of conferences across the country and the world. We are always taught/expected to RESPECT the residents of where we are VISITING.

I am a christian but i am dismayed by the rudeness of your attendees today.
