Favor

Well, what can we say? We got up at 4AM Tuesday and went to bed at 4AM Thursday. Lot's of 4 AM here, but this time we went to sleep in a daze from the Dove/GMA Awards. More to come, but thank you for your prayers and encouragement. Between us we received 10 Doves last night (Chris 5, DCB 3, Matt 1, Louie 1), and though Passion: How Great Is Our God was steamrolled by the powerhouse Narnia in the Special Event Album category, you were represented throughout the night and a part of it all.

Beauty was seeing the gifts and energy of our team/family recognized AND seeing our guys shine that light right back on Jesus. Chris, receiving the Artist of the Year Award
at the end of the night opened his Bible and read Psalm 96:1-4 before sitting down at the piano and leading us all in How Great Is Our God. That he walked off as we sang How great Thou Art (like every tour night) and left all eyes on Jesus was a fitting sixsteps ending.

All glory to you Jesus!

Tired. Happy. Humbled.

Louie

  • Isaiah 26:12

"All that we have done the Lord has accomplished for us."

That was the Bible verse in my daily devotional this morning, and it reminded me of all of you at sixsteps. The Lord promises to bring honor to the humble, and we saw echoes of that promise last night. God bless all of you at Sixsteps ... the Lord is usinf you in mighty ways and will continue to.

    Your Sister,
    Jessica

  • i guess what moved me most is the example chris sets as a worship leader recieving some "award" and he walks of stage at the end of the song and recieves no applause - it's moving - and it's spotlight on Jesus kinda stuff... i am left with noone to thank but God Himself.

  • It is great to hear and see how God is moving in your lives and how you are bridges in helping others with their walk with God. Remaining humble and giving Him the glory.

I flew back from NY last night and had the honor of watching the sun set from the plane and it blew my mind how beautiful it was and how good our God is. Let us never take anything for granted in life. Thank you Louie and your team/family for all your hard work for God and always giving Him the glory. Thank you God for using Louie and the team/family to lead, teach and help others with their walk with You.

  • Way to go! I was so stoked about how God is using you guys and putting Passion on a platform to proclaim the Glory! Praise His name! As David Crowder says on "A Collision" 'I think we're on the brink of something Large!'

    For His renown!

  • Congrats Louie and to the rest of the Sixsteps team. I'm glad that you guys kept your focus during that crazy time, and yeah, man, that's how the music time should always end. Making sure people realize that their eyes should be focused on God, and not on the person who's singing. Good job to Chris for that subtle reminder.

The way Chris ended the night was a wonderful testimony to where his heart is and indeed all your hearts. Thanks Chris for pointing everyone to our awesome God by the Psalm read and in your song.

  • I went to read my Bible and grabbed my message bible, but just wanted to post this up:

    Is 26:7-8
The path of right living people is level
The Leveler evens the road for the right-living
We're in no hurry God, we're conent to linger
in the path sign-posted with your decisions
Who you are and what you've done
    are all we'll ever want

Thank you God that you make the decisions for our life. God help us (me in particular) to be content in the path you have made me and not to try to go my own way. Make it true in my heart that you are all i want - that you are more than I need - You are more than enough.

I hope this is an encouragement to anyone out there struggling in the same issues.

  • congrats to everyone at sixsteps, chris, dcb, matt, and charlie. one thing that really impressed me at passion was how it wasn't about you guys, it was about God. i hadn't been a huge fan of some of the guys before passion for various reasons, but after seeing them lead us in worship and the passion they had for God, worship, and leading us in worship, my opinion of them has changed. keep up the work guys! it's not about you, it's about God.

  • Congratulations! You all have been such an inspiration bringing us closer to God. Praise God for His glory and mighty works.

  • I drove around my neighborhood tonight with my windows down and "How Great is Our God" turned up loud, signing from the depths of my soul and longing for the day when all will say "How great is our God!"

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 4/07/2006 1:24 AM

  • Louie,
Did you and Chris plan your outfits, or should we just chalk one up to "great minds think alike"? :)

    Congratulations!!

  • Congratulations. Great job!! Thanks for keeping up updated on the awards. Make sure to get lots of sleep. God is great.
The cd, is simply amazing. I love how you can tell that it is live. I didn't get to attend the conference because I'm too young, but when you listen you feel as if you were right there. Thanks you all for the great work you did on the cd. And thank you Lord for letting it happen that way.

  • I love the way David got dressed up for the occasion!! Seriously Louie, you and Chris need to spend a little less time together, matching outfits in kinda sad!! It reminds me of Dr. Evil and Mini-me! Lol

    Congrats by the way

  • "Then David praised the LORD in the presence of the whole assembly: "O LORD, the God of our ancestor Israel, may you be praised forever and ever! Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O LORD, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things. Riches and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and it is at your discretion that people are made great and given strength.

"O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name! But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you have already given us! We are here for only a moment, visitors and strangers in the land as our ancestors were before us. Our days on earth are like a shadow, gone so soon without a trace."

    from 1 Chronicles 29

    Congratulations.

  • I just wanna Congratulate the sixsteps records family for really becoming a successful record label. I was researching the music industry two days ago and found that Chris Tomlin's record arriving went gold, that's amazing, because it seemed like the trend in christian music was not to sell records. And how the doves ascended on sixsteps. You all deserve more awards and accolades for doing everything for the glory of God.

  • From a "family" standpoint, I think the only sad thing in all of this is not seeing Charlie getting to share in this moment with y'all. I hope that with Daybreak, he'll have the opportunity to be with you guys in next year's post-GMA/Dove photographs.

Thanks again for all y'all do!

  • Louie and Team,
    CONGRATS!
You all are so deserving (I know you're humble), but you are deserving. I believe God has blessed you with these awards for your faithfulness, your focus, your "never give up" attitude and most of all your love for Jesus!
What a great experience for all those that work with you side by side too! A team always outgives and outperforms and individual.
    Congrats.

  • WOW, Mr. Giglio, I know you and Mr. Tomlin are close (bordering on being a bit unhealthy), but do you also pick out the clothes Mr. Tomlin wears too?

Mr. Giglio you are doing a great thing and you are a massive blessing on so many different levels, thank you. You must have a very understanding wife who allows you to travel so much and be involved in so many different things. You are blessed, Mr. Giglio but also take inventory of life.

Mr. Crowder, you are definitely different but you seem to have remained humble as Mr. Redman is. I am glad to see that you won an award. I like your new CD, again, different but different is good.

Mr. Tomlin, all the best to you and congratulations. Mr. Tomlin can I be honest with you? Truthfully over the last year or so, you have changed and a few of us are not sure what to make of it. Yes, your songs carry truth but do you really believe and live what you sing? I like the sound to your new songs with the exception for "Party" because it sounds like you are doing it with effort and for the wrong reasons. Mr. Tomlin, its not you, maybe what you would like to be, or what someone else would like you to be or even what someone has convinced you to be, but it is someone elses persona. Brother, we are our brother's keeper and only those who seek God's best for His church will be honest with you because if one part of the body suffers so does the rest of the body. You used to have a peace but over the year you just don't look as if you are happy, your eyes tell of much unrest. Take time for yourself and rediscover the Mr. Tomlin that was distinct and not easily influenced. Also, don't forget your band, they are more important than anyone gives them credit for.
