First Monday Prayer Guide - December

A few weekends ago I spoke at a conference in the Georgia World Congress Center (for you Passion 07 goers, in the very spot where we had our second venue last January), and as I walked out the door to the loading dock to drive home I was struck with the reality that this was the place the year began and the place it was winding down again. And then I realized how much has happened since the final session of Passion on January 4th, and it almost took my breath away.

So now, as we enter in the final stretch of 07, it is right to just take a moment to say thank you to God. He has done so much, brought us through so much and allowed us to be a part of so much in the past twelve months. It's crazy when you stop and think about it. Really crazy!

So as we pray, we will shape a few of the prayer points around gratitude and with the others prepare the way for what is to come. I'm not sure how you do it, but it's a good idea to print the 16 prayer points out and keep them with you throughout the month. And if you could, give us a tiny shout on the comments and just say "I'm praying in whatever city you're in." It would be cool to hear from you and see us all linked in similar confessions around the world.

16 (2+6+8) Prayer Points for December

Thanksgiving. "All we have accomplished, You have done for us." Isaiah 26:12b

1. Take a minute to think back on your year, and as God brings things to mind, thank Him for the places you've been, what you've seen and what He has done in and through your life.

2. Thank Him for something you have seen Him do on your campus this year.

3. Thank Him for a specific time He spoke to you and changed your life.

4. Thank Him for protecting you (from more than you'll ever know) and bringing you through.

5. Thank God for someone who has been a gift to you this year.

6. Thank God for a specific area of His character that has become a treasure to you.

Prepare the way. "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed." Proverbs 16:3

7. As we mentioned in the latest Blog, pray for Passion London. Pray that God will prepare the way for the gathering in the Hammersmith Apollo in June.

8. Pray for a growing sense of unity among all the various campus ministries of London.

9. Pray that the vision will spread to Ireland, and all of the UK, and that Passion London will be a historic gathering of university students for the future of the church in these nations.

10. Paris is a present example, but we need clarity and wisdom on venues in several cities. Pray for the right venues to become clear to us and for the hearts of the people who manage them.

11. Pray for Passion Jakarta, happening in the largest Muslim nation on earth (Indonesia). Ask God to make our steps sure and expand the Kingdom through this night.

12. Pray for Passion Paris, that more and more people who have a burden for university students in that city will find out about the event and link with the vision.

13. Pray for those who currently work with university students in Paris. Ask God to encourage them, strengthen their faith, increase their vision and give them great favor.

14. Pray for our team traveling in Uganda at the moment, and pray for the students at
Makerere University, the largest University in Uganda and the location of the Passion gathering. Amazing things are happening all across the University. Ask God to deepen the movement and restore the nation through this generation of believers.

15. We are trusting God for millions of dollars between now and October.

16. Pray throughout the month for one of these four cities we hope to be in next year: Vancouver, Mexico City, an unnamed East Asian city, Cape Town.

  • There's quite a few of my friends that read the 268 blogs and I know all our hearts are with you guys. We're earnestly praying for revival and attempting to answer God's calls in our lives. Thank you all for answering the call God has given you and leading this generation faithfully, providing some understanding of hope and promise through God in a world where hope and promise often seems unattainable.

Lately I've just "got it" and found myself broken for students a little younger than myself. All I can do is pray for them and be an encourager as much as I know how. I pray that God would do something amazing in StudentMerge 08 here in Knoxville, Tn and that students would just turn away from all the lies of Satan, but not only those students involved, but many many others.

God's moving, even in a place called Corryton, Tn, in the most unlikely place for a college ministry. It's such a blessing to be a part of and I'm just so thankful for it.

I am praying for you all and amazed at how God is using you guys.

God is just Awesome. God (period).

Actually a tiny little community in the lovely hillcountry of eastern Kentucky called Fogertown (and yes, it does get foggy, but probably not as much as the real London :). The past twelve months since Passion '07 have truly been amazing, but the next twelve are going to be off the charts! God fill each of you with his Grace and guide you with His Spirit! Lots 'o love from Kentuck!

  • If anyone is so inclined ... there's a cool website (http://www.echoprayer.com) that I found while browsing Francis Chan's web site. You can have prayer requests sent to you via text messages. In November, I plugged in the first Monday guide and set it up to get random reminders every so often.

Anyway, that's how I'm praying along with y'all in Carlisle, PA!

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS CRAZY! AND WE ARE ALL CRAZY FOOLS! One big crazy fool in Lbk, TX!
    PS
    AND HIS SOVEREIGNTY!! CRAZY!!

"For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way."
    - Eph. 1:15-23 NIV

I prayed this prayer for ya'll today.

  • I'll be praying for Paris. I have some links in some small/medium cities where I did my studies (I'm French btw); I will pass the information to our "Groupes Bibliques Universitaires" in my area; (Christian Student unions).

I have been blessed by Passion even if I never attended any conference; but 4 years ago when I accepted Christ in my life, the first "Musical worship" cd I heard was a Live Passion event!

May our God continue to bless you and bless students all over this planet through your ministry.

    sincerely,
    Paul

  • Gosh I've been waiting for someone else to post from Melbourne or even Australia but there's been no one so far and we are praying over here!!!

I just love that you have a Prayer Guide now. We can focus on specific things to pray for but I also feel such a sense of unity in getting behind what Passion seeks to do when so many people share their heart here.

There is someone praying on here that I met in Atlanta while volunteering and had the opportunity to pray with ! There are also two of my "prayer partners" from other countries praying here.Thats four of us from four countries praying with hearts united that His Name is lifted up and for all that you guys who work so hard for this college generation, be it in the office, 268 store, speaking, leading music worship or behind the scenes do.

Thanking God for all He has accomplished this past year, through the good and bad.
"All we have accomplished, You have done for us." Isaiah 26:12b echoes from my heart.

Waiting for leadership and wisdom for venues, cities; waiting for a unity in univ students and leaders like never before (Jn 17:20-22). Why? Because Your Name, and Your Renown are the desire of our souls!

    It's all about You!
