120% For Jesus

OK, so if you weren't at Passion Dallas, you're probably wondering what deal is with the 40/40/40 thing and the 120%. Well, it's a long story, but let's just say I'm not that swift with numbers (and, for the record, there's a fairly large amount of information floating through my brain at a Passion event!), but at the end of the day the students in Dallas gave the clothes off their backs to help the students of Union University, many of whom lost theirs in a tornado that completely devastated almost every residence on the campus two weeks ago. I said quite boldly that 40% had lost everything, 40% would get some things back and 40% would recover almost everything. Only the next day did I realize what I had said and everyone had a nice LOL moment at my expense...including me. So we just decided to embrace the 120% idea and left the place thinking we wanted to be 120% committed to Jesus. Why not, right?

The feedback from those of you who were in Dallas has been amazing. What we prayed for happened right in front of our eyes as God breathed the hours we shared to life and changed us in a way that will change history. The worship was powerful as songs and actions merged to make God happy. DSN (Do Something Now) was incredible. Are you ready for this? The students brought 3700 towels and 17800 pairs of socks for shelters throughout the Metroplex. They gave $18,992 to build over 6 wells for African villages, and $80,040 to help make a Passion event in Seoul possible in October! WOW! And do you want to hear something really cool? Someone who was there Saturday night offered to double the number of wells AND the Seoul offering before knowing the totals. We haven't seen the check yet, but when it comes that will mean 12 wells and $160,080 for Seoul!

In the pics above you can see the potential of 6000 people to change a campus and the world. But at the end of the day it's not about a huge crowd, but a huge Holy Spirit of God who makes the weak strong, the afraid brave, the broken whole, the dead alive and the impossible possible. That's the hope of Passion Dallas and the hope of every nation! We love you guys and feel so honored to have the privilege of serving you through Passion. And we're SO glad we came to the Big D and know you are with us on this beautiful adventure.

120% believing that Greater Things Have Yet To Come,
Louie

  • You gave an address for the clothes, and I plan to use it, but also, regarding DSN, is there an address for the headquarters for that as well? I work in retail, so I can get towels and socks. I just need to know where to send them.

By Blogger Unknown, at 2/18/2008 11:45 PM

  • brian, towels and socks went to dallas area shelters. dsn is just the name of passion's campaign. if you want to give more, contact local shelters in your area!

  • it totally blew me away when I heard about who much we have given. I had just gotten out of class when my friend texted me that we had raised $80,040. The only thing I could say was "Praise God!" I also praise God for the fact that God using y'all through Passion and blessed me and words cannot explain my feelings of joy. I came home and wrote a 5 page note of facebook about everything.

now and forever giving 120% for Jesus,

    Kristin

p.s. my prayers are always with y'all! and next year Passion Dallas needs to be bigger :)

  • hey so im commenting again all of you who went to passion and who live in texas
we should get organized and give more and do more to the least of these throughout the state and the world. Lets Do it. CHANGE OUR CAMPUSES FOR JESUS

    By Blogger B-Rack 2000, at 2/19/2008 11:25 AM

  • God is raising up this generation to the Awakening He has for us. Passion is a wonderful tool in the Creator's hand. This is going to change the world.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 2/19/2008 11:31 AM

  • All of these comments have a lot of excitement about how much we GAVE. We need to REMEMBER that we can still give through PRAYER.

We have to remember that prayer is the life line between the Holy Spirit and us.

So PRAY, PRAY, PRAY and more amazing things will happen.

P.S. Passion is NOT OVER so lets not talk about it in past terms, but look at it as something that is taking hold of people's hearts and lives.

  • I have a friend of mine who serves on staff at Englewood Baptist Church in Jackson, TN. He called me yesterday and said "what in the world were you guys up to down there in Dallas?? I looked out my window and I'm staring at a mountain of clothes for the Union Students!" What a cool thing... Hands down this past weekend was the best weekend of my life. I've been praying for an awakening in my own life, and I can honestly say those prayers were answered this weekend. Seeing all those people going hard after God in worship... wow! And to think what Heaven will look like??

Goodness... What a blessing! God bless you guys as you head to DC. Knock it out of the park!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 2/19/2008 5:04 PM

  • I just got off the phone with Englewood Baptist Church and they said they don't need anymore clothes, and that they have an abundance...so basically God is amazing and has more than met those needs for the students...great job to everyone who attended, thank you for being so faithful and teaching me so much about active faith...

  • passion was an amazing awakening and reminder of God's continual and ancient work for His people and nations. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of getting that promo for the world tour. I wanted to show it in my chapel at school to raise awareness, funds and prayers. any ideas???

  • I was at the Dallas conference and I just wanted to say that it was completely unique of all the Christian conferences I've been to before. It wasn't just the music (which was incredibly amazing) or just the speakers (who were the best, and so moving); what truly made it unique is that I left not just with a spiritual high (but I did get one) but a new fervor to reach my lost friends so that they could feel the incredibly joy that I have felt and do feel! I have a new determination as well to not let this feeling get pushed to the backburner over time but to keep it at the foreground of my mind. My heart has never felt so full spiritually and so broken for my friends.

  • Have been reading the blog for a while - 1st comment.

It's amazing to see that ever time you guys meet there's even more stuff happens from the last time (if that makes sense).

Scary but exciting to see what could be achieved this time next year.

God is the God of the immeasurably more.

It's inspiring to see people walk the walk and not just talk it. I love it

  • FYI ~ According to Jared Schuler at Englewood Baptist Church in Jackson, TN, they are fairly inundated with clothes for the Union University students right now. He says that the most pressing need for the students right now are gift cards to Walmart and Target for incidental items now that they are trying to get back into the swing of things. Jared said the gift cards could be sent directly to the church address.

  • I snuck into passion.(I did Pay!) But Im a highschool junior, this event was so much more than the generic teenage confrences i've been to. (The conferences that tell me to aquire the fire and scream about how christians should decide whats cool...or tell us to reach out yet never explain how)

Mr.Giglio (if it's even possible for you to read this i would like to give the grand cliche of gratitude in a most sincere manner, thank you. Thank you for the words spoken through you and the stories that you shared. Honestly(this in meant in sincerity) what i saw there possibly changed ,my life. I go to a christian school that does a rather poor job fufilling the christian misson. I am concerned, if a insane cacausian man were to blow up my highschool during a chapel session the majority of the students killed would wind up in hell(this not for sure, i am not God i can not possibly know. however if i happen to belive the teachings of a man who claimed to be one with the eternal creator then my assumptions are proably correct) But i have dillema, i am ambivalent as to how i can reach those lost at my school. The school does have biblical teachings but these teachings are an enigma to those who hear it and the majority of my generation is apathetic concering the things of eternity. I have no flippin clue as to what i can do... Louie(if you not to busy to read this) i need help...im familar with way of the master evangelism and the concept of letting my light shine but my soul is still bogged down. It hurts, the false assurance of some and the blind eye my school turns makes me want to vomit. Thats not good for anybody...vomit is pretty gross. Please, Louie help...or someone help. I'm in houston texas i go to westbury christian school, what can i do my email is on my blog and my alternative is this:
    footballguy675@yahoo.com
any advice would be greatly appreciated. i would love to get in greater detail as to what goes on at my school...but this space is to small.

  • Passion Dallas was ASWEOME. The only thing I can say was I can't wait for the DVD. Also I was amazed at the Amount we raised and at the Person who (praise God) Said they would double the amount the offerings brought in. Meaning from 6 wells and 80,000$ for Passion Seoul to 12 Wells and 160,000$. Amen God. I also would love to go to Passion Seoul to see how our offerings influence the College students in South Korea as they see the love of God shine through Passion. Amen God.

  • Hi Louie, Shelley, and everybody else at the Passion House...

    40% + 40% + 40% = 120%

    I think that's beautiful!

(Reminds me of the time when I said in a sermon, "God is huge! He's huge!! He's H-U-G-H, huge!!!" Of course, I had to immediately acknowledge amidst all the laughter that God's name was indeed not, "Hugh.")

Anyhow, Kimberly, Carly and I are thrilled to see what our "HUGE" God is doing through the Passion Regional Events! We'll be praying for His manifest presence in DC this weekend!

We join with you in "120% believing that Greater Things Have Yet To Come!"

    We serve an Unstoppable God!

  • I was really hoping that it wouldn't be a mountaintop experience, but instead it's gotten so much awesomer since I've been back! The Holy Spirit has thrust me into such a constant state of prayer, worship, and servitude that I don't know what to do with myself! Thanks guys for letting God work through you to change my life!

God bless from Arkansas!

  • Wow. I never heard of Passion until I visited a particular church after moving to go to school here in Dallas. This church had a handful of tickets to give away at their college ministry and low and behold...I won a registration! It was the first time I had ever been to this church. I really think that God wanted me at Passion. Everyone around me knew about Passion and was disappointed about not being able to go, but I had no idea why it was such a big deal. I've lived in the Dallas area my whole life and never heard of Passion.

I went into the Passion: Dallas conference exhausted from a LONG week. Despite my lack of sleep, the Lord really spoke to me, and ministered to my heart and soul. I have to say that the testimony of Ashley's life and Krista's witness...just everything about this entire situation, her family and all...was one of the greatest testaments to the power of God that I have ever heard. I cried...cried again...and cried some more. As a college student, I identified so closely with everything about Ashley and Krista's story, including Ashley's family. It impacted me so much that I bought the conference CD's and I couldn't wait to listen to them again. This past Sunday I went home to visit a church an hour and a half away with my mom and brothers, but we got lost and were to late to go in once we got there so...while we drove around, I popped in the CD's with Ashley's testimony. Louie, my mom was so impacted by everything that you had to say and by the evidence of God's power in Ashley's life. She was moved to tears as I was. When I went back to school, I left the CD's at home so that my dad would have a chance to listen to them, as he was at work on Sunday. My mom told me tonight that he thought they were REALLY good.

All that to say, thank you Louie. And thank you to Ashley's family for allowing Louie to be so candid with your lives. Ashley's testimony is being used to make the name of our Lord famous right now, right here in Dallas. Seeing this big picture has helped me to stand back and look at my own big picture. God Almighty is using this tragic, yet amazing set of circumstances to minister to his church as well as unbelievers. I know that my mom is greatful as well, so thank you from the Baldwin family in Terrell/Dallas, TX. I am so greatful for your ministry and following the Holy Spirit's leading. I want to see my CHRISTIAN campus change, not to mention the secular campuses all around me. They DESPERATELY need JESUS!!!

To God be the glory forever.

  • I'm so excited to see the effects of Passion Regionals! Dallas was great! After waiting for 6 years to be able to go, it was unreal! Praise God for the ministry :)

And you now have 22 listeners.

By Blogger Amber, at 3/01/2008 3:08 PM

  • Louie, first off, thanks for all of your dedication to minister to college students across the globe...it was a weekend I will remember for a long time; hopefully I can remember it 120% every day!

I noticed you mentioned something about Ashley and how she never had the chance to really minister to anyone since she died 5 months after she gave her life to Christ. I wanted to let you know that God used Ashley in Dallas to minister to me, and it was very special, especially since my name is Ashlee and my dad's name is Mike and he is not a Christian either. Really encouraged me to try sharing Christ with my dad again. I hope I can get that fire back that Ashley had, and that I once had, and be a fruitcake all over again!

P.S. I agree with Jonathan's comment...I am also awaiting for the 120% for Jesus t-shirts!
