Beautiful Down Under

Hello from one of the most stunning places on the planet - Gorgeous Sydney. It's pretty strange leaving the snow of Seoul for the sunny skies of Sydney, but it couldn't be a more spectacular summer day and we are soaking it in.

Thanks to everyone for praying for the meetings in Seoul last week. I have to say I am overwhelmed by the way God is putting the pieces together. For starters, our lunch meeting with a handful of the most influential leaders of student ministry in Korea was truly amazing. Following the lunch, about 60 pastors and para-local church ministry leaders gathered to hear about the vision for Passion Seoul. Most people who walked into the room couldn't believe the breadth of ministries represented, a great sign of greater things to come. Our team did a heroic job gathering the right people and bridging the gap. I left feeling like the potential for something generation-changing was before us, and can't wait to see where things lead heading up to October.

A long flight landed us in Sydney, where I spent the weekend with 16000 women at Hillsong's Color Conference. Yep, me, Shelley and 16000 women. I have to say it was quite a sight and a powerful few days serving God with friends and watching an army of women mobilize to change the world. (More on that later).

Last night, all the folks at Hillsong Church gathered back in the Acer Arena in Olympic Park (where the conference was) for a massive worship service. About 14000 people turned up for an incredibly powerful time...a tiny glimpse of forever and a hopeful sign of what our great God is doing around the world.

If you didn't know already, Sydney is an absolutely breath-taking city. As I write I'm looking over Circular Quay in Sydney Harbor..the Harbor Bridge on my left and the Opera House on my right, with a panoramic view from the 35th floor of our hotel. I couldn't possibly describe the beauty as bright sunshine begins to give way to twinkling harbor lights.

News of tragic deaths at Auburn and UNC have reached us here and broken our hearts. Let's all pledge our prayers and support to the families and friends of these two precious young women, and live for what matters so that heaven is in every student's heart.

Headed home soon,
LG

  • Wow, I'm so jealous right now. Not about seeing God's work, I see that anytime anywhere, but how come you get to travel the world and see it?!
My name is Mike West and I go to SUNY Brockport in New York. I went to Passion DC with my Campus Ambassadors group and we are still talking about the conferene. I have told so many people about how amazing it was. I was wondering if you had the actual numbers of how many towels and socks were gathered, how much money was donated for wells and how much was given for the Passion movement.
I've been to a lot of conferences before and I don't know if I've ever been as moved as I have with this one. Maybe I've said this after every conference or retreat I've been on, I don't know, but not only did you and everyone else involved with Passion preach the word, but you showed and empowered us, the average college student, to make a difference.
Our group will be working very hard at coming to the Atlanta conference in April. The price tag will be much higher for this trip and we are trying to petion our college for help. I don't go to a christian college but a few years ago they sponsored a relief trip to Mississippi and the hope is they will sponsor this one because of all the good works done through your ministry. Personally I think we should just all drive down and pitch tents at night if we need to, but that's just my opinion.
I really hope to see you there!

  • I just read on the internet about the Auburn and UNC deaths. It breaks my heart...

Even though I am not from the States (I live in Cape Town, South Africa), I cannot help but feel that, as Christ's church, we are all in this together, no matter where we may find ourselves on this little planet.

God is calling us to pray for our generation like never before.

2 Chronicles 7:14 (New American Standard Bible)

"...[if] My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

No matter where you are on the globe, let's take this scripture and pray for our home countries as well as for those who are especially in need of our prayers.

We are all in this together.

Lots of blessings in Jesus Christ - He is the only one who is Worthy

  • Hi Louie, Hope you are enjoying your time in Australia. Thankyou so much for your messages at colour. God is so great ,i have been on a journey with God over the past few years overcoming abuses from my childhood. When the lies come i can now say with confidence to leave because my father in heaven has something different to say! What you brought to the table sealed what God had been leading me towards. Thanku for being faithful to the call of God on your life. I love your passion to worship the beauty and power of the cross.I listen to the passion podcast as well so now you have like 22 listeners praise God! I have started Bible college at Hillsong this year which has been amazing. I love learning and going deeper with God. Lots of Love and hope u and Shelley have enjoyed our hospitality here in sydney. Have a safe trip home and my heart felt prayers are with you always! Much love Bree.

  • Louie, it was so great seeing you again! I go to Hillsong College and worked at the Sisterhood booth at Colour. Going to and serving at Hillsong has been great, but hearing you speak took me back to life in GA, 7:22, and Passion!

    Love your ministry!

  • I was one of the 16,000 in the Acer Arena - it was so fantastic from beginning to end wasn't it? I loved your talks - thanks for setting the big picture of our star-breathing God (not an image I am likely to forget in a hurry). I took my daughters to hear you (and Priscilla) at Hillsong on Sunday morning too - that was a phenomenal time too - great testimony! And the album recording was just so anointed - unbelievable. It's hard to come down from the mountain top.

Thanks for coming to visit our corner of the world - we've been so blessed by it.

  • Sydney - very cool. I was there a couple of summers ago with my wife and son. The highlight of our trip was worshiping with the Hillsong Church (at the hills) on Sunday!

  • HEy Louie, THanks so much for what you brought to Colour. I so loved hearing what you had to say and felt like God spoke directly to my heart through you. I brought you messages on Hope and took them home to my mum who was recently diagnosed with cancer. She has really loved them and is standing with her megaphone ready to proclaim Jesus in the face of trouble... thanks so much once again. I'm looking forward to Oct in Sydney!
