  • It was my first Passion event, and it was the best weekend of my life. As I read over the list when I saw "Shut up!" I laughed really hard, good stuff. What a life changing weekend. I couldn't have asked for anything more.

  • This was my first Passion and there aren't words to even begin to explain just what Christ did in me this weekend. In my twenty years of life I've never witnessed anything quite as beautiful as thousands of young men and women of God raising their hands and worshipping OUR GOD!!! He truly is MIGHTY TO SAVE! :)

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 4/13/2008 4:43 PM

  • Louie, can you please post the story behind "God of this City" on here? That was an absolutely amazing story that needs to be retold. It's an unofficial theme song for NAMB's World Changers this summer and we're going to be using it in worship and in the videos we make. I'm planning on shooting city footage in Puerto Rico and South Carolina to put with this for each week we have a project. And I may come to Vancouver in the fall. It's during fall break!

  • Great words Louie! I totally agree.. mmhmm! :) I have to say the last session last night was so powerful! Something EXPLODED! I could tell Chris was speechless. AMAZING! Thank you Louie and the passion team, AND GLORY BE TO GOD!! :) God is changing the world and I am so glad that you guys have gotten on board with that and are living your lives for what matters most!! :) KEEP SHINING! -ASh

  • It was awesome to be on the prayer team for Passion Atlanta! The energetic worship and dancing made me want better knees to jump with you all. Passion has fired my desire to see the next generation lifted up and encouraged and prayed for, to come into all that the Lord has for you.

  • I have a word to add to the list...HOSANNA!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 4/13/2008 5:25 PM

  • Passion Atlanta was AMAZING!!! God is absolutely INCREDIBLE! I think 1more thing could be added. Ashley's story. I'm amazed by how God is using her even after death to witness to so many people! Just wanted to say our youth have started a prayer meeting & we'll be praying for Mike Tuesday. Oh, does anybody know if there is any way I could get Louie's email address?

    By Blogger cricket1226, at 4/13/2008 5:35 PM

  • Today is April 13th,2008 i just thought i would put a neverending".............! BECAUSE the passion experience put a big impact on my life and its not over. Ive known christ since i was 11 yrs old. I have never felt the spirit of God in the way, shape, or form. As i arrive home i look back on the weekend and realize that i want to feel the spirit of God 24/7. Gods love is so enduring. Hearing the testamonies just gave me a better understanding who God really was and realizing how BIG God is. Its awesome to be apart of somthing that is so much bigger than myself, I have a family, a large family they may not be blood related but thru christ we are all brothers and sisters, soooo basically we are BLOOD RELATED. That being said i have been asked to go to Zimbabwe Africa, and i too would love to share my faith and my understanding of God to my brothers and sister...or hope soon to be. BUT its all in Gods hands if he wants me to be there I will be there. I didnt want to just go to Passion and leave that Passion for Christ there in the Gwinnett Center. I want to share my experience and joy God has provided me with to the world! I wanna thank Chris Tomlin, David Crowder Band, and Charlie Hall! I WANNA thank Francis Chan, and Louie Giglio but like LOUIE said I WANNA GLORIFY GOD for using you guys as a temple of God! THANK YOU JESUS..this is only the beginning to a better life

i wanna see more pics too! yuh

  • Louie & the Passion Team,

    (Home from Atlanta around 5:45pm)

Physical & emotional exhaustion came over me and went right to bed for about 3 hours (GOOD THING AT LEAST FOR ME AS I GAVE IT MY ALL IN WORSHIP & PRAYER)!!

    YEP right on.....

Silence, Being Still & SHUT UP!!
    (LOVE IT)

To hear and Glorify God spending time in His presence!! All I can say is WOW!! The Last session summed it all up.... So amazing and powerful!! It was amazing time spent in intercession as we prayed for all of you students and the Passion leadership team.

God always comes through in the end - Victory is HIS!! Thank you to all the students who write on this blog. It is such an encouragement to Louie and the passion team as well as to those of us who get to serve you THANK YOU !!

    God Bless,
    Angela

  • Louie I just wanted to thank you for proclaiming truth it is rare to find individuals who are dedicated to proclaiming the fame of Jesus rather than themselves. Louie thank you for all that you do and will continue to do. May the Lord richly bless you and your family as well as the entire Passion organization. Louie I look forward to the day in glory when I can talk with you about the majesty of our SAVIOR. I am so glad that is group of people like Passion who has truly caught the meaning of life "GRACE." For so long I had no idea that Grace was indead sufficent for our sin. Thank you once again for proclaiming "the name that is above all names," and thank you for telling people that without Jesus they can do nothing.

    God Bless You,

  • God is awesome! I SO enjoyed being a volunteer at Passion again this year. Can't wait till next time! Praying for the international tour.

When we were in our prayer triangles for the Mexico City team, my friend Rachel prayed, "God, you can open a door when others try to shut it." Later, when they were praying in Spanish, I'm sure the lady said, "Senor, abras las puertas..." which from my high school Spanish days I recall as meaning, "God, open the doors..." It was such a God moment for us. Though we spoke different languages, we were united in prayer!

God is just so cool like that!

  • HI ANYBODY READING THIS BLOG (Epecially students):)

Over the course of this weekend God has called my Mom and I to begin to earnestly pray for the beautiful and broken students and campuses of the world: starting with the list of those in Atlanta. I am not in college but Jesus has just been grabbing my heart as a 22yr old (and my Mom's) for this generation- our generation- and so this is what He is leading us to do about it right now. That being said, please ANYONE feel free to e-mail us (my e-mail is on my blogger account) and let us know who you are and how we can better join you in praying for you and your friends and your campus- we really love you already and would just love to meet you and join you in this journey. God is doing something amazing and truly awesome in this generation and we just want to be a part of it- in anyway possible. And thanks for hanging with what was kind of a strange sounding post to write :). All glory to God!

  • This was my first encounter with Passion. My husband and I went along with our singles group. I have been in a very dry place in my walk. Passion quieted me and very simply turned my eyes to Jesus. Ahhhhh.....How sweet the aroma that filled the arena. It was a very personal time in the mist of thousands. Thank you all for making it about HIM.

  • What a powerful weekend! I'm a student minister who is undergoing some construction in my Savior's hands. He is giving me new eyes and re-molding my heart so that I might be able to see people through His eyes and love people with His heart. It's an amazing feeling to be on God's opperating table and this weekend for me was just one more trip under His knife. He is rocking my world right now and at the same time allowing me the opportunity to rock the world of my students... what an awsome privalage! Thanks for serving students in the capacity that you do... I'd love to get plugged in further with Passion, volunteer or otherwise... how would I go about it?

  • I'm in awe of Him and what He continues to do with this movement. This event was so prophetic for me personally. Almost six years ago, on the campus of Georgia Tech University, in the Basketball Arena, I received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. This was not a Passion Event, but on July 1, 2002, Louie spoke, Francis spoke, and Chris Tomlin led worship. It was during the evening worship time that I received Him.

To return to Atlanta, with those three people, and so much more, and with the huge way the Lord spoke to me this weekend and clarified so much vision of what lies ahead for me, this was one of the most important and best weekends of my life so far.

    THANK YOU JESUS!!!

  • Unbelievable!!! Those phrases mean so much to me because of what God has done this weekend. Thank you so much for playing the interview with Sam! Her prayer made me sob like a baby. All I could think of was "Oh wow...she gets it." Let's not forget the things that Holy Spirit has done in us!

By Blogger Kyle, at 4/13/2008 11:46 PM

  • WOW! I am blown away reading these posts! You guys really get it! I shouldn't be blown away, though...GOD IS AWESOME!!
I think I speak for all of us on the intercession team when I say that reading these posts bless our hearts & cause even more praise to bubble forth in us...for He is good, His mercy is everlaslting, & His truth endures to ALL GENERATIONS! What a privilege to pray for you students (& Passion Team). The Savior's Love for you in undeniable!
May you each walk into the destinies He has prepared for you with great, great, JOY!!!

"But you are a CHOSEN GENERATION, a ROYAL PRIESTHOOD, a HOLY NATION, His own SPECIAL PEOPLE, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His MARVELOUS LIGHT!" (1 Peter 2:9)

    Still praying,

  • Praise God for an awesome weekend. It was truly an amazing experience to worship with my 9,500 brothers and sister. Even though we all don't know each other by name and will probably never meet one another face to face in this life time, I am still joyful that I got to experience and see a glimpse of heaven. I can hardly wait till the day when ALL of God's children are at His feet, praising in one voice, rejoicing His name. Thanks be to God!!

  • passion atlanta was my first passion experience and i have to say it was one of the most incredible events in my life! to look around at everyone in that arena praising our God was amazing! and the way God spoke through the speakers was awesome. when we went into the arena in silence and just reading the slideshow, really said something LOUD. JESUS LOVES ME! like i have always heard that, and i KNOW he does.. but when were praising HIM after that, and singing out to HIM.. too look around at the 10,000 people in there, i was a tiny speck, it hit me. JESUS loves ME, and KNOWS ME, and he hears when i cry out to him! i dunno about you guys, but that is an awesome feeling to feel! and i love that all those people felt the same as me, it just gave me a tiny glimpse of what heaven will be like, whorshipping GOD for ETERNITY!! i cant wait for that day to arrive!! :) I just want to thank you passion crew for following Gods will in your lives, so that so many lives can be changed! ill be praying for the world tour! Thanks for a great weekend full of Jesus!!

  • It was amazing. This was my fourth passion event. I came when I was in college and now I come as a student pastor's wife. To see our college kids catch a vision was amazing. One fun story, one of our kids goes to another more conservative church. As we were talking Friday night after the conference he said, "I've never seen people raise their hands in worship. If you raise your hand at my church, they are going to think you have a question!" :) By Saturday night he had both hands in the air and his heart fully engaged in worship! How great is our God!

    Amazing Weekend !!!

By Blogger Coach Wo, at 4/14/2008 10:04 AM

  • Ok...So this was my first (of MANY) Passions. I guess I will start at the beginning. I know it is long, haha sorry.

So, upon arriving to ATL at the convention center, I had no idea what to expect. But when I walked in to the arena it hit me. Looking out over the dimly lit crowd I realized something incredible. THERE WERE 10000 COLLEGE STUDENTS THERE FOR THE SAME REASON, FOR ONE REASON, FOR THE REASON...GOD. That is powerful stuff. It gave me such hope, realizing that I am not alone in this journey (even though God is with me always), that there are actually Christian students out there. It was one of the best feelings in the world.

As the weekend progressed, I was reminded of something that is more often than not forgotten. That something is very important in faith, and it is grace. Yes, we have all heard of it, and know what it is...But there is a HUGE difference in hearing something, knowing something, and then actually understanding and applying it. Sometimes all we need is to be reminded of God's grace. As I accepted it, truly accepted it, this huge weight was lifted from me, and I just had this overwhelming since of peace, and knowing that no matter what has gone wrong, or may go wrong in my life, I WILL BE OK. GOD IS AMAZING.

And one of the coolest parts of this whole weekend was seeing the lights go off in people minds when they realized things, just as I had. GOD IS REAL.

I WANT TO BE A FRUITCAKE...

God Bless, and I hope everyone made it home safely.

  • While attending Passion ATL, my heart was stirred for the World Tour. Especially the first location, Kyiv, Ukraine. The church I serve goes twice a year to the Ukraine. However we serve orphanages in Krivoy Rog, over 8 hours by train to Kyiv. But that is not stopping us or our college ministers in Ukraine. We are funding the trip for our translators and the spiritual director of the orphanages, which are all college students. May God pour his blessing out on all those attending every location on the World Tour.

  • 2 Corinthians 5:13- "If we are out of our minds, it is for the sake of Christ; if we are in our right minds, it is for you"

Louie, I've NEVER EVER heard anyone use that verse in a message, or anything and I was SO excited to hear you use it.

I cried like a baby all through the second session on Tuesday because your words just brought so much up in my mind and my heart.

Yesterday was my 21st birthday and Passion couldn't have been a better gift. I will be forever greatful that those hours were spent as they were and not as some of my friends suggested.

As I put it to my d-group, this weekend was overwhelming and I am SO excited about what's coming in the next couple of months and years.

I want to be a fruitcake-and silence with God can be the loudest thing ever.

From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU, and the Passion team, for all you do!

  • My voice still hasn't recovered from yelling/singing "There is no one like our God..." on Saturday night. As an adult leader who grew up in the church my whole life but who had nothing like this available when I was in college, this experience was unimaginable. God was in that place!

Nothing this good and God-filled can go on without being attacked by Satan. I pray that the Passion ministry will be held high and protected so God's message can be told to millions of college students around the world.

  • Louie

Wow, God is amazing :) I just had to thank you for a small act of obedience on your part that solidified the assurance of God's call in my life this weekend.

Two years ago, God called me to Mexico City, and I told Him that if He would provide a way for me, that I would follow Him. Unfortunately, I allowed other things in life to crowd out His calling, and even though He provided for me, I never made it to Mexico City. When the Spirit convicted me about my disobedience, my soul ached with the knowledge that I would never see what God wanted to accomplish through me there, and I had passed up an amazing opportunity to experience who He is. I assumed that because of my lack of faith and my direct disobedience, He would move on to someone else and my opportunity was forever missed.

Was I ever wrong! This weekend, when you spoke the words "Mexico City," I completely broke down. I could not control my weeping as the Lord gently revealed to me His desire for the students of Mexico City to know Him. I have an inexplicable connection to and compassion for the people of that city, and I felt the voice of the Lord gently calling.

Here's where your obedience fits into the story :) When you came out on stage and asked those in whose hearts God was moving to raise their hands, it was the Lord saying to me that not only does He hear me, but He chose me. I am to be a vessel for His purposes, and now I'll be held accountable to it. Thank you.

I apologize for the novel, but I couldn't find your email address so this is the only way I could think to tell you :D And it's great that now I get to tell everyone else as well- DONT EVER let Satan tell you that the Lord has given up on you. I will never know what I missed out on two years ago, but I do know this: The Lord had every reason to pass His work on to someone else, and He still chooses to include me anyway. Wow, we serve an amazing God :D

PS. Yo estudio la traducción y el espanol (I study spanish & translation) so if you need ANY help in Mexico - someone to stand at a door, to hand out food, to take pictures or even if all you need is prayer and support I'm all over it :) Thanks again for your obedience.

    Pursuing Christ and CELEBRATING Him,
    Lauren Wright

  • Perfect recap. I miss it already, but I am fired up (like someone poured gasoline on my match) for the LORD and I'm ready to show people my new wings.

By the way, the whole roommate story is totally where I'm at right now with my roommate. It totally inspired me to just show her God's love and pray that one day she'll desire to have God in her.

  • hi again.
I think my husband (1st timer) and I (2/Atl.07) were the only AARP card holders at this event. But we had a great time! I am reading the crazylove book and being challenged about what i am doing for Jesus, am i lukewarm...i would say no...but God is definetly challenging me. We took our 23 year old daughter to this because she really wanted to go and we do not have a college ministry at our church. So we drove her and her friend to Passion and we all had a blast. An incredible experience for parents to share with their adult child (priceless!) and incredible filling from God. So thanks God for opening my eyes (even with the readers on!) I am excited to get in "crazy love" (renewed!!!) with Jesus. so out for now. thanks for not knocking us over as we scrambled into the arena!

  • Okay, I just finished reading all the comments and I am totally in Passion-Land. I don't know when I'll come off of this high, but I hope it lasts for awhile! I can't get all the songs out of my head. I will have to purchase the CDs.

And to agree with everyone else, I too want to be a fruitcake! God, please make us all fruitcakes for you!!

  • I am free, I am free...
Thank you for challenging/making me let go of the big rock that crushed the Son of God, the guilt of my sin... I WAS a murderer, a fornicator, lier, hater... but now I am a TESTIFIER to the FAME of JESUS the Chain-breaker, Healer, SAVIOR!

I am a missionary who has carried around the weight of guilt over past sin for far too long! Thank you...I am free! The Son really has broken the jaw of the accuser!

(I Corinthians 6:11-And such WERE some of you. But you WERE washed, you WERE sanctified, you WERE justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.)

    God bless your PASSION...

Rock the world with the fame of the FLAME!

  • Thank you, Passion, for allowing God to be GLORIFIED in Atlanta through you this past weekend. I'm overwhelmed into silence. The Holy Spirit is in me. I want to do something. We'll figure it out. A recipe for fruitcake. To taste and see that the Lord is truly good. Thank you, God.

  • it's jay again

even though it's been couple days since Passion - Atlanta has ended, the joy that God has given me is still overflowing. GOD IS AMAZING!!!

originally, last thrusday, i had plan on not attending Passion because i had other church commitments that needed my attention. but incredibly and amazingly, God opened the door for me to go. and coming into this conference, i really didn't know what to expect out of it. but it was exactly what i needed.

there were so many things that touched my heart: fruitcake, Holy Spirit, ashley, mark, sam, be still, lifted hands, glory of it all, chain breaker, hosanna, amazing grace, greater things are still to be done!!! Jesus the Great Redeemer!!!

when i heard that you guys were going to Japan, my heart jumped with excitement because i will be taking a few of my college students over there this summer for a missions trip. God has really given me a passion for the people of Japan. they have all the materials of this world, but yet they are starving for Truth. less then 1% of the people have HEARD the name of Jesus, let alone Christians.

i'll be praying for you all as you travel around the world, spreading the story of hope of our amazing Savior. God indeed will provide =)

Let us all be fruitcakes for Christ!

hey guys, for all who were there, i remember finding this band about a month ago, its a mexican worship band called En Espiritu y en Verad "in spirit and truth", like the passion movement and they do a lot of redman, tomlin covers adn original stuff..if you dont know spanish you should still check them out...and i was just checking them out again and guess waht...the pastors involved with this amazing band are Enrique and his wife Tita who were with us this past weekend, let's continue praying for them and Mexico as Passion goes there in a little while. Oh yea, as you read about them they have different stuff about Giglio being involved in different events they had. God bless all

  • This was my first passion event and I had no clue what i nearly missed. I wasn't going to come because of tests but God allowed me to come, and I loved it.

  • Hey, this is for that person who asked what "shut up!" was from. It was when Francis was talkin about askin his wife if she'd ever thought about what goes through a caterpillar's brain. Remember he was talkin bout how it takes a really long nap, wakes up, sees its wings, and is like "shut up!"

  • I just stopped by to pick up the "Welcome to the Silence" blog, and then kept reading.. Reading this recap of Passion Atlanta brought back that rush of feelings I experienced over that weekend. I think this is the perfect summation of what happened.

    Thanks for everything!

  • God is amazing!!

Where can we find the rest of the Ashley story? In Atlanta you mentioned you were going to meet Ashley's dad for the first time. I would love to know how the meeting went.
