All Eyes On Atlanta

Shelley and I were in Nashville over the weekend checking in on the latest Tomlin recording when we saw the news of the tornadoes that slammed into Atlanta Friday night. If you were at Passion 07, your heart dropped like ours when you saw the area around Philips Arena, the GWCC, the Omni Hotel, CNN Center and Centennial Olympic Park trashed. Given that both Philips and the Dome were filled with people, it's a miracle that no one was seriously hurt or killed. Sadly, some in the metro area were not as fortunate as more storms rolled through during the day today.

Thanks to all of you who thought about us at the Passion House. All is well in little Alpharetta, but all eyes seem to be on Atlanta and that gives us an opportunity to say that Passion Atlanta is just four weeks away and space is going fast. The price went up at midnight Friday and registration is currently over 8500. We are reconfiguring some production pieces to get as many people as possible in the Arena at Gwinnett Center, but any way you slice it less than 1000 tickets remain with a month to go. If you're planning on coming, I wouldn't wait around!

We'll have more updates on exact numbers soon!

  • Louie-
Thank you for letting us all know how you are doing. Thank God that you are all safe! We have been praying hard for you and all of Atlanta, and many times today my heart went out to you. I couldn't believe my eyes when the footage started coming in from downtown- absolutely surreal! But it just cannot be coincidence that this happened hardest at the sight of 07, and exactly a month before the regional. God must have an amazing plan for His work through Passion for it to be so intricately interwoven on the front lines. But our hearts are truly hurting for all those involved. Please let us know if there will be anything like an early Do Something Now for Atlanta! And thanks be to our merciful, awesome God- Who miraculously spared so many while still making an unavoidable statement of His power!
GREATER THINGS HAVE YET TO COME....

    In His love,
The Pinson Clan (Don, Vickie, Joel, and Christis Joy)

P.S. We're really praying for the cd as well- that it would lift high the name of Jesus more than any other name!

  • Thanks Louie for letting us know that you are all OK there at Passion House. As I stared at the TV yesterday morning, I just couldn't believe my eyes at the devastation....remembering from being there last year for Passion. My heart goes out to those who were not so fortunate. If there is anything more those of us going to Atlanta next month can do with "Do Something Now" to help out more, please by all means let us know. My prayers are with everyone there.

    In Christ,
    Donna

  • Louie,
I am so glad that you guys are alright. My heart sank as well when I turned on the TV yesterday. It is hard to believe that we where there for Passion 07. I saw one clip of the GWCC and the water was just flowing down the steps. I wish I could come to the Atlanta regional, but I bet when y'all sing "God in this City" it will carry even a bigger meaning then it does now.

Please let us know about anything we can do to help the people of Atlanta.

    Still 120% for Jesus,
    Jamie <><

  • As many have said, when I saw the news the other dau, it was shocking to see the destruction, My thoughts immediatly went to being on those streets and in those buildings last year.
What a blessing and miracle that it wasnt as bad as it could've been!
    God bless!

  • Glad to hear everyone is safe!

I was shocked to see the news on Sat AM myself. But what a great and mericful God we have that no one was seriously hurt with SO many people in the area! As I saw the footage I was brought back to memories of 9/11...and how God worked in my life at that time.

    In Him,
    Janet

  • That wasnt the ideal way to be reminded of our time at Passion was it. So glad no one was seriously hurt in the shambles.
We'll be praying for the Atlanta Regional just four weeks away. Its hard not to wish that I was volunteering again over there and that my son got to go again and experience God as he did. Mustn't be greedy, I've had my turn. Its just that it was such an awesome time spent in the presence of God that one would want to repeat it.
Hope everything is running to plan and that after Sydney you both had time to rest before the next endeavour.

  • Praying for you at the Passion house and for the city of Atlanta!Surely what happened has a meaning, God is in control of everything...and we keep our trust in Him!!!I don't have the privilege to know the city or the buildings, but I know that the people who live there need Jesus and God's love as I do...so I pray that through Passion Atlanta many students will know Jesus as they never do, I pray that their hearts can be open to receive. You Lord have so much to give and You desire so much to give everyone, love, peace, joy, hope, LIFE!!I pray that they can receive all of it, in the name of Jesus.Amen
