Hello from sunny and gorgeous Kyiv, a city where old (the place is 1500 years old) meets new and soviet meets Europe. We all made it... and finally everyone's luggage has joined us. The big news of the day is that Tomlin's band's guitars have arrived, but, sadly customs failed to release our resources and they are on their way back to Atlanta.
We've had an amazing day out and about in the city, and on behalf of the Ukrainian board of tourism want to say you all need to come and check this place out. The city is awash awash with warmth and covered with blue skies today. The city is emerging moment by moment, yearning for the next and newest...striving for change and a future. Yet, you notice few smiles among the people, and a quick look around tells you the Story we are carrying has not reached the hearts of many.
Pray for smooth set up as the crew continues in the AM and power and clarity for all of us as we seek to tell His Story well. Continue to pray the word spreads throughout Kyiv tomorrow!
"Lift up your heads, O you gates, be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is He, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty, He is the King of glory." Psalm 24:9/10
LG
PS-The images accompanying our journey are in large part be from crazy-talented photographer Jeremy Cowart. Jeremy is traveling with us, photo-journaling the whole World Tour for a book we hope to release at the end of the year. Enjoy!

Friends, may your Passion Team have wonderful time in our Kyiv city of Ukraine! God has been using you all to promote passion for his glory in hearts of young people of my country. I am sure you'll have young people not only from Ukraine but from Russia and Belarus coming specifically to the event in order to join the celebration of our Risen Lord Jesus with you! Bring them all near to Him!
God bless!
With prayer and appreciation, Sergei.

WOW- so it finally begins! After months and years of dreaming, and planning, and praying, and sweating, and praying some more, it all comes down to this. There seem to be a million things and hopes and prayers that could be said right now, but probably don't need to be. Now its God's turn. The stage has been set... the invitations have been sent... now it's time to be still and know that HE IS GOD in Kyiv, in all of Ukraine, and in this whole world! Wow!
We love you guys and are carrying you in our hearts so very far away! Please give our love to all the brother and sisters in Ukraine! And tell the Story- lift up Jesus!
Greater things are coming- TONIGHT!
Christis Joy
P.S. Jeremy Cowart- You are amazing!!
P.S. MATT REDMAN- Take a look at the photo, Buddy: Chris wins! How did you ever let that one slip past your radar? ;)

"Yet ,one thing you notice among Kyiv's people is few smiles, and a quick glance tells you the Story we are carrying has not reached the hearts of many."
Louie, this quote captured me and my heart grieved. I know exactly what you are talking about. I spent a month in St. Petersburg Russia 10 years ago and I encountered the very same thing. These people's spirits have been broken by years of communism and poverty. Their hearts are hard and it is written all over their faces. I could tell you many stories to go along with this.
To someone who has not witnessed it you can't describe the absolute lifelessness in these people's glare. I still see their faces, there was no life, there was no joy, no hope. However, the transformation that took place when one would come to Christ...It is truely a life being raised from the dead.
My heart is with you guys in Kyiv. I love these people. God loves those people, that is why you are there. I am praying that the joy of the Lord will fall on your passion meeting and Christ will fill the lives of those students with everlasting hope.
Be Blessed!

thanks so much for sharing your impressions & photos of Kyiv with us. Some of my best friends spent a few years in Uzbekistan as missionaries, the cultural descriptions sound very similar. Praying for the set up to go smoothly tomorrow...and for people to be drawn like magnets to the sports palace tomorrow night... for their minds and hearts to be open and respond to the message of Jesus in an unhibited way...for each person leading to sense clearly what to share...for God's presence to saturate the place and accomplish all that He longs for~
blessings!

so i just got laid off. im in need of a job again. in discussing with like minded christian friends here i've told them: i need a job. i wish i could find a job where i can go around the world, change the world, make christ famous and get paid for it.... you guys have my job. .sigh.
i just finished praying for you guys in kyiv. it's a beautiful city. it's God's city. greater things are yet to come. i pray that these words would be sung prophetically over the city from the stage of the venue. God, just be there. Holy spirit, show up, stirr the hearts of the young population of Kyiv. Jesus, walk along the streets and let your words resound through the city...
so how can i join the passion team? God can use me in envelop folding, worship leading, chair folding.... haha. be blessed guys. i'll be praying for you all day.

Louie enjoy your time in Kyiv and may God grant the Passion team safety and travelling mercies.
roll on london.
In a world of the shrinking God, I often wish that the highest heavens were my pulpit and the who world was my audience What would I say? I would say that that God is there, that life did not spring forth from its own, but it was brought into exisitance by a great creator. And I would tell them that also there there is an even greater issue than the existance of God. A God who exists but does not matter- who does not make a difference in the way we live on this earth might as well not exist.
To go through life and not know Him is to have existance without meaning.- Alister Mcgrath

Well, it is too bad that the resources won't make it in Kyiv, but it is better that the guitars did instead! If you had to choose between the two, I'd say the guitars are a bit more important. But, it is too bad about the resources. :(
I have been praying for you guys since you left, I can't wait to hear/see the update after the event!

May the glorious light of God, reflected in our beloved Passion team, bring light to the dark places and hearts to the Glorious One. We love you all and pray for His presence to surround this blessed conference.

Let the streets resound with singing
Songs that bring your hope
Songs that bring your joy
Dancers who dance upon injustice...

What an incredible day here in the US as I have thinking and praying throughout the day for all of you. It's been hard working today as your team has not been far from my thoughts and PRAYERS.
I know that the Holy Spirit will have engulfed the Passion Team as well as the students as He "WILL NEVER LET GO".
May these students know that Kyiv is part of the grand plan of the creator of this universe. May they encounter the God of this City like they never have before.
God bless all of you. Can't wait to read your update today or tomorrow since it is 10:00 p.m. in Kyiv.

I imagine that the event has just about come to a close now, and that lives in Kyiv have been forever changed by the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit! Thank you Lord for the work that you have just done, although all of us here in America have no idea yet! Lord, thank you for opening up those doors and letting the music play...
By Chris, at 5/16/2008 3:27 PM
Kiev has been on my mind all day, in fact so much so that I changed the clock on my computer to match the time zone there. It's now 11:30 in Kiev and I'm sure that God has completely rocked the Sports Palace tonight. We'll pray for some of the best sleeping ever imaginable, and some safe travel as you get ready for the next event Sunday and as we (people all over the world praying) look forward to greater things.
"Greater things have yet to come, and greater things are still to be done in this city."

Ever masturbate with the thoughts of someone else besides Jesus in your head? That is why the goal of passion is to make Jesus the most famous name in your life. There isn’t a car ride or a conversation, a bite to eat or a sip to drink, or a single entertaining thing out there not waiting to give us the choice of whether or not we have Him in mind first and foremost. He created everything there is. Nothing exists that He didn’t make.-Homeless John 1:3. Every step we give. Every thought we take. Every second of the day is HIS. What are you going to do with Jesus next? “What do you mean, if I can’t?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.”
