Passion Day One-What A Sight!

Not sure what to say, except seeing every seat in the Gaylord filled with students and leaders is pretty overwhelming. People made it here, and for that we're grateful. We had only 10 minutes of furious rain in a day that was supposed to be marked by strong storms for much of the afternoon. :) The opening session was almost too much to take in, beginning without a lot of flash, just a simple and powerful acoustic set with David, Chris, Charlie and Matt. Mat'a, a university student from Slovakia who traveled to Passion 06 with nine other Slovak girls and 2 leaders (only three of which are Christians!), helped me welcome everyone.

I should have been paying more attention to taking pics, but it was kind of a bus
y day! Here are two I did grab. One is students gathering outside the Arena about an hour before doors opened. The other is the guys on stage right before doors opened doing a quick sound check for their set.

God is here. We are eager to see how He's going to lead.

Will try to get more people shots for you tomorrow.

Sleep now.

  • it is so good to be here and share this God-encounter with 18000 other believers. What a day that this has been. And the best is coming, I think that God has great things to do here.

  • Praise God from whom all things flow. What a start. Thanks for allowing God to speak through you. I do not know what stories you hear, but some students came back sharing about a girl from Poland. She came to america after receiving Christ, and came to Passion to get equipped to take God back to her campus in Poland. She said that when you said it only takes one person to win a campus, she felt as if you were talking to her.
In addition, the Spirit in me was doing something large. Purging. The Spirit really gave you the words to say. I am engaged to an Ashley, and I have been digging the Ashley well lately. Amazing how just a few words work. Thanks for being, "I am not". Thanks for helping others die to self-glorification. Thank you God, most of all, for all you are doing.

  • Passion, Chris (Jesse, Daniel, and Travis), Charlie, David, and Matt, Louie and Shelley, You are all in my prayers..... and Pslamsgirl.... you've got it right--- it is a battleground and that's right--- too many of us give Satan too much credit, when it comes to our trails... continue to stand up and fight, you will be victorious.
Passion, May God bless you indeed, continue increasing your territory, and protect you from Satan's arrows. Thanks for sharing the pictures with those of us who can't be there..... It helps me to be able to kind of put myself there and pray more effectively.
    Your sister, Jeanette

  • Praise God for safe travel and a fantastic start! May God speak directly and clearly to each student, leader, staff, and volunteer today and in the days that follow. Thanks for the comments and pictures, they really do help guide prayer for those of us who can't make it this year, but join in prayer from off-site.

  • Hey all, hope you could get a LITTLE sleep, I am sure that you are all wound up, but just know that you that are there running Passion are so appreciated for your sacrifice , work, and love for God...thanks so much for what you are doing and for letting us who arent there be able to "live vicariously" through your eyes and ears with this blog and website... keep on keeping on and you are constanly in my prayers!! ( and if you ever want to come to Boston, we would love to have you back...missed you the first time but would do what we could to get you here again...maybe you might want to wait til the Spring when we dont have 2 feet of snow?!?!)
and to Psalmsgirl...I dont know what you are going through, but thank God that you are relying on Him, He will ultimately and always be there for you. My fave passage, Jer. 29:11....we all know it, but "For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me in earnest, you will find me when you seek me"....so, kiddo, you are hitting the help right on the head with what you are doing, but know that we are praying for you....isn't it so cool that we , even though we don't all know each other, all share the same dad who loves us through it all....later....

  • Galatians 6:6 says, "Anyone who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with his instructor." I don't know about you, but I have received life-changing, transforming instruction from Louie and the Passion Ministry. As Louie wrote in one of the blog entrys, he has carried this vision for some 9-months, and now it's birth. Giving birth is an exhausting endeavor. Now is the time to pray for Louie and Passion's leadership. Pray that God would refresh Louie as he refreshes others. Ask that God would continue to speak His word through Louie. Pray for strength. Wisdom. Grace. Power. All throughout the day honor God by honoring his servants. Pray continually. Serve constantly. Love selflessly. I don't know what your "good things" are; maybe they are prayers, encouragements, service, financial contributions, obedience, whatever they might be, share them, contribute to the leadership of Passion. We have received much good instruction from Louie Giglio and the Passion team.

  • Psalmgirl,

You prayed for me last week when my world was crashing and really encouraged me. i want you to know i am praying for you now. i was just thinking of the cool stories you shared with me about God's faithfulness, and how quickly things can change in our lives. one day we are supporting others and the next we need support! anyway, this one worship song has been replaying in my own mind lately, and i thought i'd share the lyrics. it has been an avenue of praise for me through difficult and changing times and i hope and pray the truth in it will encourage you as well. our circumstances change, and confuse us, and scare us, but God is faithful, and consistent, and dependable, and your choice to walk ahead, believing that the Truth is TRUE, satisfies Jesus! He delights in the submission and surrender and trust of one heart - your heart - just as much as He does in 18,000 students lifting their hands to Him.

So take heart, he is attentive to you. i feel like He wants you to meditate on that. He is attentive to you. He will accomplish what concerns you. Trust in Him with joy, just like you are, and He will work.

Psalm 138: "I will give You thanks with all my heart; I will sing praises to You before the gods. I will bow down toward Your holy temple And give thanks to Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified Your word according to all Your name. On the day I called, You answered me; You made me bold with strength in my soul. All the kings of the earth will give thanks to You, O LORD, When they have heard the words of Your mouth. And they will sing of the ways of the LORD, For great is the glory of the LORD. For though the LORD is exalted, Yet He regards the lowly, But the haughty He knows from afar. Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, And Your right hand will save me.
The LORD will accomplish what concerns me; Your lovingkindness, O LORD, is everlasting; Do not forsake the works of Your hands."

also 1 Cor. 1:9 - "God is faithful (reliable, trustworthy, and therefore ever true to His promise, and He can be depended on); by Him you were called into companionship and participation with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord."

ok, here are the lyrics to that song. It's called Yesterday, Today and Forever, by Vicki Beeching:

    Everlasting God
The years go by but You're unchanging
    In this fragile world
You are the only firm foundation
    Always loving always true
    Always merciful and good
    So good

    Yesterday today and forever
You are the same You never change
    Yesterday today and forever
You are faithful and we will trust in You
    We will trust in You

    Uncreated One
You have no end and no beginning
    Earthly powers fade
But there is no end to Your kingdom
    Always loving always true
    Always merciful and good
    So good

    Yesterday today and forever
You are the same You never change
    Yesterday today and forever
You are faithful and we will trust in You
    We will trust in You
    We will trust in You
    In You

    Yahweh God unchanging
    Yahweh firm foundation
    Yahweh God unchanging
    Yahweh firm foundation

    Yesterday today and forever
You are the same You never change
    Yesterday today and forever
You are faithful and we will trust in You

    We will trust in You
    We will trust in You
    Faithful God

    We will trust in You
    We will trust in You
    Faithful God

  • Psalmsgirl....no problem, that was a totally "God-incidence" ( I dont believe in co-incidence) to find the Corinthians chapter 'cause i just happened to open up my Bible and that is what came up, most of the chapter which was outlined and jumped out at me like a soar thumb, so I was just a messenger for the day, but it is a comforting passage in a way, so my pleasure!! Also, i am also 30ish, so love it when people don't think I am my age, if you know what I mean. Only difference is around here in Boston most people are in such a hurry we dont even get the ma'am thing, we just kinda get a quick look or "hey you" type thing....although one time i did get a "ma'am" when i was at a local water park and the life guard said "please come out of the pool this way, ma'am" 'casue i was so disoriented that I did not know how to get out, dont know if I was more embarrassed with myself or mad at him for making me feel like an old lady...miss would be so much nicer!!! So, hope that your day went better and that you keep your chin up!!!
and to the lucky "Passionate" ones out in Nashville....i am sure today was a great, exciting, tiring, draining but totally mountaintop type day, how could it not be when there are 18,000+ together worshipping the coolest "boss" of all.....I hope that you all had a great day...
mine, not so great, a foot of snow, no school and no work.....oh well, this is New England.(like they say, if you don't like the weather, wait until tomorrow around here, it changes that much.....)later,,,or lataahhh, as we talk so funny around here!!!

  • Amen. We have been praying hard. We are 25 and missionaries to Sudan Africa. We are in the states for now and we have been interceeding for Passion 06. Passion has been one of the biggest encouragement for my husband and I to leave and GO with our son titus. May the Lord Send many this week!

  • Psalmgirl, I just want you to know I am praying for you too! I have been thinking about you today. I can't quote Bible verses, but know that you are in my prayers tonight, for whatever it is that you are facing right now. You are lifted and loved by so many who don't even know you. Be blessed.

Can't wait to hear more from Passion. They must be rawkin' in heaven right now!

    Peace be with you,
    Melissa

  • Psalmgirl-You are very welcome! So glad to know things are turning around for you. There have been so many times in my life when I've had to put all my trust in God and He has been soooo faithful. He never disappoints. Keep us posted on how things are going for you and if there is more we can pray for on your behalf.

Passion people! Awesome news coming from you guys! I cannot even imagine what is must be like there. A little glimpse of heaven, perhaps? :) Times a million!
I cannot wait to hear more! Thinking and praying for you always.

    Peace,
    Melissa

  • ,hi Psalmsgirl...hoping you are having a better day, each day, and that God is helping your work your "stuff" out...i am new at this blogging thing, and know that we have moved on to the next day at Passion, but am a little structured and wanted to keep our conversaion in the order that it is in... and yes, it is so cool that we are a big "family" and can share eachothers burdens, thats what it's all about...so, God bless and keep up the faith.
Louie, as Psalmsgirl said , your vision for Passion has reached farther than Nashville, and that is so very cool to me....you and Shelley and all of the rest are like a seed that is planted and is turning into a tree (I know, kinda corny, but that is the best metaphore I can throw at ya'll on my lunchbreak!!) So, keep up the planting!!
