Close Call Follows Great Week

Late Friday night storms raged through the southeast again, and around 5 AM a violent thunderstorm spawned a few small twisters in the Atlanta suburbs. From the looks of things, one took dead aim at the Passion House. But God was kind to spare us significant damage. Our phone lines were ripped from the house, so phone and internet service will be interrupted for a bit, but we will be back at it Monday. Given more substantial damage here and in surrounding states we were quite fortunate. But the timing was interesting. A few days after Passion 05 we had a fire at the house and now after the huge GMA week and the relase of Everything Glorious we have this.

Thankfully, Passion still has a home!

  • I wondered how everything was after seeing all of the storms on the radar last night and this morning. Good to hear that everything is safe and that there is no major damage. Praying for you guys as the cleanup begins...

  • Man this is crazy. I found out this morning that a tree fell on a common friend’s house up there. That is ridiculous. But it is great to know no one got hurt in either house. I will remember my north ATL friends in my prayers.

  • Louie,

I was just wondering, what is "the passion house." I've been wondering for awhile now.

  • So glad to hear that the house was spared and especially you and the team. Just confirmation that you are doing awesome things for the Lord! Great things only come with great adversity....Keep threatening the Kingdom of darkness!

  • Wow... glad everyone's alright, and that the damage was minimal. A guy that teaches at my mom's school in Marietta got hit pretty hard, from what I understand. Scary thing for me was, I slept through every bit of the "stormage" this morning, and didn't find out about it til people were calling to see if everything was ok.

  • Louie, thanking God that the damage to the Passion house was not more serious and that none of you were hurt.

So sorry that it would have taken the edge off of such a wonderful week .

Praying all is fixed quickly and life gets back to normal for you all really soon.

  • Louie,
Thank you for this post as I was wondering about all of you this week. Yes the timing is interesting... it must mean you all are doing a great work for Him!
Thanking the Lord for covering you all by His grace. And prayers for those more deeply affected by the storms, that He would use these circumstances to draw people nearer to Him...

Also - Congratulations to all Sixsteps for the honors you received at GMA... and thank you so much for being faithful to point the honor right back to Him!
    Blessings to you all :)

  • LG and CC,
I'm a post behind, but I get it now. I just found Psalm 96 hiding in 1 Chronicles 16. That's what sixsteps is all about, isn't it? Thank you and your fellow Levites for all the steps you've taken to carry this generation into the Presence of God. How could we not sing to the Lord a new song and praise His Name? May you continue to proclaim His salvation day after day, declaring His glory among the nations, His marvelous deeds among all peoples. For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise.

  • Glad you are all right and that no severe damage was done.

I've been wondering what the Passion House is all about too. Is that where you live, or what is it about? What happens there?

  • "Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them. Remember the day you stood before the LORD your God at Horeb, when he said to me, 'Assemble the people before me to hear my words so that they may learn to revere me as long as they live in the land and may teach them to their children.'"1

"Dear God, please help us to make eating time in our home a time that will always produce warm memories for all our children and by all who dine with us. Please help us to make our home a house of blessing to all who enter therein. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, in Jesus' name, amen."

  • Man Louie, your office has had its rough times... first a mini-fire behind the walls... weird stuff with squirrels... and now falling trees. All the minor effects of a tornado minus the massive destruction. :>) Glad to hear you guys are all right and hopefully get those holes patched up soon.

  • This is interesting, looks the the wicked little punk doesn't like you!

A similar experience happened at a conference here in Adelaide (Australia) early last year. A large group from my church and a couple of others were serving the conference in ushering, guiding people around, helping the crew and stuff. At the end of the opening worship event held outdoors, a huge storm came in and washed out the outdoor worship venue (a formerly dry creekbed) and the tent city. Our group 'just happened' to be the only group completely flooded, while the only two of our tents without the ushers in them were spared. The caravan (this is how bad it was!) with the other two ushers got severly damaged and flooded as well.

We also had God providing for us in amazing ways:
    * other groups offering us spare tents
    * other groups squeezing in to less space to free up extra tents
    * someone with a free Monday just happening to be at the church where there was a trailer loaded with tents
    * a very generous laundromat offering free use
    * a whole lot of uhf radios unexpectedly being free for us to coordinate cleanup efforts

I think this attack on the Passion House should provide you with a cause to have a good laugh at the evil one and his inept attempts at blunting your double-edged sword sweeping through the nations. It just proves that only our God reigns over everything that all Satan can do is annoy you every now and then. Keep on speaking the double-edged sword of the truth and the father of lies will be defeated in many lives around the world.
