Hometown ATL

Though it's only for a few hours, I'm pretty excited about being in Atlanta for what we hope is going to be an outrageous night at the Civic Center. The week has been a bit of a blur as we are finishing a stretch of being on the road for 24 straight days....but that's no slight to Cincinnati, Fort Wayne, Chattanooga and Birmingham, AL. Every stop has been a privilege and amazing in it's own way. Last night we had heavy hearts in Birmingham as tornadoes took the lives of people not too far from here, but this night is about championing a God who loves us beyond what we can conceive and who is in complete control of our lives no matter how crushing or confusing the circumstances around us. We are deeply saddened, yet confident His grace will be enough for all.

While I was in the Passion House for a few hours on our off day Wednesday we recorded a new episode of the Passion 07 Podcast that will hopefully air tomorrow (later today) that includes quite a few of YOUR comments from the phone line. Thanks to everyone who left a message for us. Though we couldn't include every comment, we were moved by all.

One last thing, watch for the final Passion 07 iTunes bundle coming this coming Tuesday, March 6th, with Piper's Passion talk, Charlie's version of Marvelous Light that followed and Chris Tomlin's Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone).

See you tonight in ATL!

  • Sad to say, my SHINE wristband finally had to come off this week. It was all ripped and tattered from wear. But God has helped me tremendously through it over the past two months!

I will be with you in Atlanta tonight. And yes, His grace is enough!!

  • Louie (and the guys), you will never know how the Lord used you last night here in Bham. I was one of those broken people who the Lord loved on and ministered to through you. I recently lost my mom unexpectantly and have gone through the most devastating time of my life. Every verse you shared was straight from the Lord to my heart. I cannot thank you enough. I am praying for the rest of your tour, that the Lord would bring the broken and love on them like He has done for me. Thank you again.

  • Definitely excited about the new bundle...as an iTunes stalker, I love seeing the Passion bundles, Chris, Matt, and now Steve all on the Top Albums, I pray for everyone who is spreading the message through those bundles.

Also, I was thrilled to see the new podcast start to download, I've only been compulsively refreshing my podcasts for weeks now. I'm still praying for the tour, and looking forward to seeing y'all soon!

  • i am so excited about this 3rd bundle! i remember tears flowing down my face as Chris led Amazing Grace in GWCC at the first session. I was in Philips Arena, and a few choruses in, they flashed a picture of the flowers on the ground from Louie's talk, and it just got to me. What a touching moment!

i pray God will use these bundles to reach those needing Him around the world.

  • Atlanta is the place where my alma mater's baseball team had that wreck on Friday. Three members of the team are from my home town, and although one of them is still hospitalized, God decided not to take them from earth yet. It's weird when that hits so close to home, and to think that I knew every member of that baseball team 5 years ago.

I pray that those involved will lean on God and trust Him as he works out his plan. I pray for the campus as well, that these students will seek answers only in our Heavenly Father. I pray for the campus pastor Randy as he is there for all the students during this time as well.

No matter where you are, this effects you. It's something that you think will never happen, but we continue to trust in our sovereign Lord's plan.

  • (despite everything, I still have always loved Atlanta...home of the Atlanta Braves - my childhood favorite team, and the place where I spent 4 days having my world rocked by my God)

  • I just really wanted to say thanks for Birmingham. I live in Tuscaloosa and go to the University of Alabama, but I am originally from the Wiregrass area of Alabama. My immediate family lives 45 minutes from Enterprise, and I have friends and family that were directly affected by the tornadoes last week. Thursday was a stressful day for me as I called relatives and close friends to make sure everyone was OK and also took shelter from the storms that came through West-Central Alabama. It really meant so much to me to come into Boutwell Auditorium and lay all the worries and stresses of the day before a Savior who's so much bigger than me or anything I can even fathom - through worship and through the reaffirmation of God's power and hugeness through Louie's words. So thanks.
