The Weekend Update

Lot's to update you on, so read away and spread the word...

Good News/Bad News on iTunes, campers. The people between us and iTunes had some problems with their delivery system this week and all projects releasing next Tuesday (1/24) from our sixsteps label partner (EMI) will be delayed and NOT make it to iTunes for Tuesday. Sad, I know, but don't stop reading! The bummer is that Flying Into Daybreak from Charlie Hall is in that group. We already have a strategic limited release in place for Daybreak--it's available online, at 268Store.com, iTunes, Hastings Music Stores and Mardel Stores only--so we are not too jazzed about waiting on iTunes, but the CD will be available online and at the above stores on Tuesday. Plus, Charlie will be playing songs from the new CD in Atlanta Tuesday night, so if you're in the area/state, come and worship with him and pick up a new CD there! If there are no further surprises, Flying Into Daybreak will be on iTunes by 1/31. The project is simply amazing. I can't wait for you to hear it.

Though the EMI projects got delayed, a miracle happened and ONE made it through... somehow! Yep, the Passion 06 Early Sessions bundle will be ready to roll at iTunes on 1/24. Many of you have correctly surmised that Mr. Crowder and friends will be bringing "You Are My Joy" to the mix, yet no one has hit on song number two. So, we are going to let it be a surprise! OK, we might tell you, but we'll have to wait and see. Also, Joy will be on the Passion 06 CD, while the other song is an iTunes exclusive only. The talk "Passion, Purpose and Designer Jeans" rounds out the bundle (definition-buy all) and will take you back to our time together in Nashville. On 1/24, remember where you were sitting the last day of Passion 06... then, you know what to do! If you weren't at Passion 06, enjoy on whatever day moves you. Plus, we've just finished bundle #2, available on iTunes in late February. More on that soon!

Speaking of iTunes, if you don't have an iPod yet, no worries. Download iTunes to your computer (Macs and PCs) for free, then you can purchase music at the iTunes Store. Once you've bought the bundle you can listen on your computer or burn a disc (for your personal use, of course :>) and listen anywhere. Don't have iTunes? This is your weekend!

The Passion 06 CD (not sure of the title yet), hits stores on April 4 and is going to be amazing. All the great moments and new songs. And yes, a full length DVD with all the songs on the CD and much more will be right behind it, coming your way in early summer. What else can I say, we have heard the people!

But, as you know, Passion is not just about the music, but about everything being rooted in the depths of God's truth. If you'd like to digest the talks from this year, everything is now available (CD and mp3) at the 268Store.com.

Finally, it was great meeting new friends at Auburn last night and seeing some Passion 06 wrist bands that are still alive. Speaking of wrist bands, we ran into HS seniors today from LCA (near Atlanta), who were about to play their basketball game sporting Passion 06 wrist bands, even though they are required to cover them with athletic tape during competition. Very nice touch... and really cool meeting you.

I think that's all for the weekend update. LG.

PS-There's a great Blog post from Mata (Slovakia) below under the Long Road Home Blog. Check it out.

Think. Go. Live. Be. Passion.

  • Wow... that was a lot to digest... almost felt like one of Dr. Piper's talks...
Can't wait for the bundle to come on Tuesday, but more importantly I can't wait for Charlie at 722... it's gonna be one great day... if only I didn't have four classes as well...

  • ok, so i was sitting in the upper bowl on the last day, but there's no way i'll be able to wait an extra 24 hours once the bundle's out...so is it ok if i buy it on tuesday, but then "gift the music" to all my friends on wednesday through iTunes? ;-)

  • Passion Staff,

Thank you for all you do for us! I ordered my passion '06 speaking series three days ago, and I already got it (and that was through regular snail mail). Thank you for how speedy you are at getting stuff out. Im really excited for itunes. I also really hope that on one of the bundles you'll put Jesus Paid it All. Thats one of my favorites, and I've only heard it at passion! Again, thank you for all you do, it means alot! God Bless

  • sorry that the html didn't seem to all fit...

there are now openly anti-Christian jeans. louie talked about how it is feasible to share Christ through your jean-making, but how about the other way around?

  • ok?

    well... that was weird

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/20/2006 9:08 PM

  • Im guessing the song will be "Salvation is Here" that seemed to be a big hit. Also since it was on the last CD, the second song might be the beautiful piano version of "Indescribable" Both are wonderful songs by far!

  • i am SOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!! about the Passion bundle i can't even express it in words!! and the CD! from the conference is going to be amazing! funny story - i was cleaning my room before going back to school and found the passion '99 "better is one day" cd and nearly fell over because it was lead by charlie hall (who i had never heard of before passion06. living under a rock much?)but now i absolutly love! i just didn't put two and two together. i listend to it again and it had a whole new meaning! AMAZING!!

  • Louie!
Let me just say how incredibly shocked I was to come skipping out of encounter last night and see you standing in the foyer... needless to say words left me and those I was with, as you probably realized by the group of 6 standing within 5 feet of you openly gawking and whispering to each other "is the really him?" Sorry for that! Anyway, I hope you enjoyed encounter; thanks for stopping by!

  • Louie,
My daughter ran into you today at Phillips Arena. She was the LCA student with a Passion wristband about to play basketball. Thanks for encouraging her. There are thousands of young people in Curitiba, Brazil that need Jesus. Let's take Passion to Brazil.
Mike Hawkins (Amy's dad)By the way, the girls won.

  • My Passion session cd's came in yesterday...So what's the deal with these...can we let people copy these cd's to keep the sermons?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/20/2006 10:49 PM

  • hey brandon,

Shane and Shane didn't play in any of the main sessions at Passion 06....sad, but true....however, they did a couple of late night concerts during the conference (which was spectacular by the way)...but the jeans talk was very cool...really relevant to college students everywhere...

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/20/2006 10:58 PM

  • Louie, and team

Can I just thank you all again for the wonderful time in Nashville?!

Speaking of wristbands, I had to cut mine off to go to the OR (it was traumatic), but I sewed it into my loops box (a nice safe place for the surgical magnification glasses). Now it's sitting there, reminding me why I'm going through all this hard training all the time; and I LOVE it!

Even better, all the excitement from passion has really carried over into my attitude at work; and a friend of mine had a similar experience last Tuesday night preparing for this week's "worship" at her church. Now, we have 3 people in our lab, all of a sudden interested and curious what our "religion" thing is all about; and they're planning to come to church with us soon! Pray for them and us, everyone! And a fourth lab member is very interested in a Christian book I read and told her about...

I just can't praise God enough!

My God saves the day , bc i know its gonna be alright!
    =)

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/21/2006 3:37 AM

  • I don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but crowder, redman, tomlin, and hall did a medley to kick off the conference....it was just them four...they came one at a time singing one or two of their songs...they were all mellow sounding with no other instruments...it was sweet! It would be cool to have that to see or listen to again....

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/21/2006 8:33 AM

  • no other instruments except guitars that is....

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/21/2006 8:34 AM

  • maybe the mystery song is Jesus Paid It All. I don't think anyone mentioned that in the previous blogs... for some of you, you'd remember it as "O praise the One who paid my debt and raises life up from the dead"

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/21/2006 10:26 AM

  • The messages at Passion were so good. And when you listen to them for a second time it's just amazing and God leaves you speechless all over again!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/21/2006 11:50 AM

  • I am excited and luckily will be at 722 to pick up the C. Hall cd. Sounds like a good one. We sang "Song of the Redeemed" last week at 722. And good news on the full lenght DVD. I really missed being there this year and am glad there will be more than 4 songs this year. Although I loved all parts of last years DVD even the stories we would watch at Passion about Boston and NY - I show these to people all the time.

On a side note - I am a big promoter of music I like to listen to. If any of you are my spacers or just want to hear a good musician who loves God and has a lot of talent, check out
myspace.com/bryanbrown I haven't talked to him in years, but his songs keep playing on my itunes. Grassroots has been promoting him. He is really talented, you will like the sounds.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/21/2006 11:53 AM

  • Maybe it's the silent version of "Here I am to worship" -- now THAT would amaze the itunes staff -- why are these people downloading "nothing?" I can't wait...

Oh, and greetings to all my brothers and sisters all over!

    Silke

By Blogger Silke, at 1/21/2006 12:46 PM

  • Yes, I agree.....Our God Reigns should be one of them. It was such a powerful song. So Silke, the silent song that was sang was "Here I am to Worship"? After leaving from the community group, I stopped by the GEC volunteer headquarters, sat for awhile, then went to the rehearsal hall thinking they still had it set up for the volunteers to watch, but they didn't. I missed the part on the screen for the silent worship song. I did get to see the other clips on the TV of the ghost writer which was just so amazing. I can just imagine what it was like in the arena at that time......humbling to say the least.

    In Christ,

  • Wow, I was really worried at the beginning of that post. Me and a friend from school are planning on buying the iTunes bundle Tuesday morning, burning it, and listening to it all day. I'm sooo glad it's still getting through.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/21/2006 2:45 PM

  • Thanks for the update!!I am so excited!!!

By Blogger FanofGOD, at 1/21/2006 3:20 PM

  • i think the second song will be a little Kristian Stanfill singing a little Jesus Paid it ALL!!!! what an awesome song!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/21/2006 10:59 PM

  • I'm thinking, PAAARRRRTTTTYYYYY!
Judging by an earlier post, it was stated that Party was an exclusive last minute add to Pssion 06'. We all know how much it was embrased and loved (ultimately we were all partying with Jesus in the arena).
So, there you have it, I'm guessing Party is the second "suprise" song.

By Blogger aaron dewinter, at 1/21/2006 11:45 PM

  • I just thought I'd let ya'll know, I have been consumed with living for the glory of God as of late. I've found its quite possibly more thrilling and satisifying when I share about God's glory than it was listening about it.

For example, my friend and I watched the "Indescribable" DVD the other day, and at the end, all we could do was hop onto the guitar and keyboard (my friend the bassist jumped in later) and just worshipped til 1:30am!!! It was so awesome

So, as far as the second song, I think we haven't mentioned Charlie Hall's "All We Need"...that one did seem to get played a lot....

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/22/2006 1:28 AM

  • 2 Guesses:

    (1) Salvation is Here led by Kristian. Because, if it's an exclusive, that means it will be digital download only... no physical cd's... which means, since it's Hillsong's song, y'all pay royalties, but only on the songs that are downloaded, not for every cd you manufacture. :)

    (2) How Great is Our God, led by Tomlin on piano the last morning. It crossed my mind in that moment: "this is such a BEAUTIFUL rendition of the song... it would be a shame for it to never be heard again simply because it was the title track of last year's record."

    My 2 cents...

By Blogger Rob Greene, at 1/22/2006 1:52 AM

  • I gotta admit...when i got my Indescribable DVD in the mail a couple days ago...I held it up high over my head, like that guy Louie talked about with the Xbox 360.

And on the wristbands...I still have my red wristband on...but it's like, turning dark red. And it's starting to rip, but I'm being as careful as possible.

Who sang Jesus Paid It All?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/22/2006 11:30 AM

  • Tony,

Kristian Stanfill sang the song "Jesus Paid My Debt". I am assuming you are referring to it being sung at Passion? Now if this is an original of his or not, I don't know.

By Blogger Donna, at 1/22/2006 2:56 PM

  • My burgandy wristband is still on my wrist. It looks like it'll stay for quite a while. It's great being in the college group at my church and seeing people who still have their bands on! We still talk about Passion everyweek!!!
I've tried to think up the bonus track for the EP, but every song I think of has been listed in other posts, knocking them out of the contest. Oh well...I'll be psyched with whatever the song is! I'm excited that the blue jeans message is on the EP. I wanted people at my school to hear it. Now, through sharing music via our network, they can!! Praise God!

Thanks again for all the hard work from the people behind the scenes at Passion.
    God Bless!
    Sarah

  • Nice. Thanks guys.

And an update on my red wristband...It came really close to tearing off this evening...so i duck taped it together. So now I'm sporting two of the many awesome things in my life, Passion, and Duck tape.

  • tomorrroooooooooooow!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/23/2006 7:41 AM

  • I don't think that "Salvation is here" will be included in the bundle tomorrow because we know one song and the other is a passion exclusive-right? we have been singing salvation is here at my church for awhile now-so sorry to say guys, but i don't think that that is the "mystery" song!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/23/2006 11:33 AM

  • Good to hear other folks out there still have wristbands on!!

The folks I went with lost theirs after the first day home :( so I'm still taunting them with mine. But after three weeks it's looking a bit ragged...

    Stay strong gang!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/23/2006 11:51 AM

  • To Rob Greene (and others who may not know): You can hear Chris Tomlin do his piano version of "How Great is Our God" on his brand new live CD. There are no new songs on the record, which may make it a little unappealing to some, but it is still a great listen. He does a piano version of "Indescribable", as well as great new versions of older songs like "Forever" and "Kindness". Anyway, just thought I'd let ya know. You might want to check it out!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1/23/2006 1:39 PM

  • I am PSYCHED for tomorrow!!! Let's melt down itunes for God! (only after everyone has already downloaded their bundle!) :)

I am really looking forward to hearing everything. I was not at Passion, but I am so encouraged by everyone's testimony from it. In this celebrity-obsessed, self-centered culture, it is so awesome to hear from young people who know who the real "Famous One" is--Jesus Christ!

    Can't wait to hear it!

    By Blogger higgie08, at 1/23/2006 1:59 PM

  • is it midnight yet?

By Blogger Silke, at 1/23/2006 5:01 PM

  • if i may put a word of advice on the table... if you see that the iTunes bundle for Passion is at the number one spot... DONT BUY IT!!! check back tomorrow and see if is has moved... another words, buy it if it isnt number one so it will move back up! if everyone does this we are sure to keep it at number one for the longest period of time. Lets give a chance for people who may never hear a passion song the opportunity to be exposed to it!!!

Quite a few people that went to Passion created photo albums and Facebook groups dedicated to Passion '06! And that's just what I've seen at a few colleges. How awesome would it be to see the facebook ripple effect that Passion '06 has had!

At midnight, I was notified several many times by friends through calls, emails, and instant messaging that the Passion bundle had arrived. Though having been above that silly yellow line, I must wait one more day. Love the songs chosen for this set!!!! Now for the long wait of the Passion cd!!

  • Hi Louie,

I know Passion is primarily an American movement and everything, and I didn't go to your conference this year because the US is way too far for me with my student income.
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaassssseeee can we have the EPs released on the Australian iTunes Music Store ASAP. We all love the Crowders music here and Salvation is Here is pretty popular as well.

Anyway, please do it soon - you will have no problem climbing the charts at all!

Thanks for all you put in for Christians around the world. Over here we may only know you as a name off DVDs, but it sounds like Passion is the real deal!

    Dave

::Thanks again for Passion06 & for all the hard work that went in to making it truly an experience and a movement worth supporting!
