Tchau, Tchau SP and Brasil

We love crowds, but Passion has never been about thousands. This Movement is about people, and we will never forget the faces and the hearts of the Brazilian students who have joined the global wave for His renown. Soon, we'll be going through customs again and boarding a flight to continent number three (not counting NA where we began). After a stop over in JoBurg, SA, we arrive at Entebbe Airport in Uganda. We know God is preparing the way for something great in Kampala, but we feel very attached to Sao Paulo and still haven't gotten over Kyiv and Stockholm!

I know we say it a lot, but something was planted deep within the soil of the emerging generation of students here in Brazil and I believe with all my heart that seed is going to grow into a stunning tree that brings life, truth and purpose to this nation. We are so honored to be a small part of what our great God is doing here and will keep praying for all of you as we continue to circle the globe.

The little audio clip on the Passion Podcast really doesn't do justice to the feeling in the room, so this video clip will give you a little better glimpse into how special the worship was. As you watch, notice the aerial shots on the screen behind the lyrics to "God Of This City." The huge football stadium (Morumbi in SP, I think...can you guys confirm that?) brought a roar from the students as they saw the potential of their number growing to one day fill this place. Later, they started chanting the name of the stadium until the Rio crowd began to lift up the name of the national stadium (Estádio do Maracanã).

Visit our MySpace page and watch the top three videos...if you don't get goosebumps I can't help you!

Love you Brazil!! Louie

  • Hey, Louie!

As ev'ryone else who had the great blessing of being there at Passion SP i'm still amazed, happy, excited, touched and a lot more after seing all that He has done through this weekend. So wonderful!! Blessed be the name of the Lord and to Him be all the glory!!
I want to leave these verses with you, as they represent so perfectly all that's in my heart. I couldn't find better words than these: "I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." (Phillipians 1:3-6).

I hope you got my message on the napkin - at least the security man in your crew promised me he would give it personally to you! In case you got it, i'm waiting for your email so i can share something very special with you.
Think you would like to know that the group from Campinas i was leading at São Paulo decided to meet on Friday night and the whole Saturday, so that we can be praying for Kampala full time. We do believe in the power of praying!
God bless you all, praying for you to have a safe trip back!
    In His love,

  • I'm really excited for Kampala this coming weekend. I went to DC, and have been praying for this since February. I still have my wristband (although now it lives on my desk instead of on my wrist). It is so exciting to know that God is about to answer prayers in an AMAZING way. If Passion DC was even a glimpse of what God is going to do in Kampala, WOW!!! God is SO amazing!!! It is also cool to know that the students of Uganda will be experiencing the same artists we experienced in DC--truly partner cities!! Know that I am continuing to pray for this event all the way back in NJ. GREATER THINGS!!! :)

By Blogger Susan, at 5/26/2008 8:56 PM

  • Why i loved this moviment with all my soul?

I never met someone who believed in me/us like the Passion! When I remember each song and each word, i start to cry... I I felt all the power and all the love of Our God...

I have no words to describe what happened inside my soul, you can´t imagine how you opened my eyes...

    Please, come back... I´ll wait.

Keep Shining His Light for His Glory and Just for His Glory.

Praying for Kampala! That They get from God like or more than us, His Light

    I ask:
"did you feel the mountains tremble? Did you feel the people roar? When the people rose to sing out: Jesus Christ, the Saviour One"

By Blogger Matheus Ortega, at 5/27/2008 10:14 PM

  • yeaah It's Morumbi Stadium in São Paulo also is the stadium from são paulo’s time, that some of you guys went to see the play. But don’t worry. tells Daniel that there aren’t “flying stones” at the shows ahuAUhU (Brazilian’s laughter). That is because the Brazilians take the “futebol/football” so seriously here.

By the way… U2's concert was also there in 2006 and was awesome. I can't imagine PASSION at Morumbi, It would be SO wonderful.
the next PASSION one day life could be here! At Morumbi!!

I’m still with the bracelet and praying for KAMPALA.
    Thank you all so much!!!
The grace of GOD in you guys are so catching!!

And, one last thing…I’m so glad of all the things you’ve said about Brazil on the podcast.
LOVE so much this weekend and it REALLY changed my life. Like.. “things will NEVER be the same” in this country, in this city and in my life!!
    Thanks GOD!

  • So I listened to the Passion Podcast last nite and let me just say when I hear them sing at the end that didn't just give me goosebumps but it brought tears of joy to my eyes. I am one of the 44 listerns that was one of the 19 listeners. So I guess I'll take a number as well..lol. I'm so glad that Passion is going into all the world. Just to hear the little bit that I did hear that was amazing. I guess it made me think back to when I was at Passion07.

  • WOW. Thank you God!!
The podcast just gave me chills. Thinking that we are all praying for the tour, worldwide. It feels so powerful. God is moving, sweeping through the world!! Keep praying.

  • Heh. Tim, at 37, you're not even close to being the oldest. I'm 44, and a few of the volunteers I served with at Passion Atlanta were older!

And I think there are a lot more listeners than Louie is telling us. Must be an inside joke :)

Louie, thanks for your tribute to Maria Chapman, and the Chapman family on the podcast.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5/28/2008 3:52 PM

  • Heeey!

There are no words to describe what I felt in those two days. Was so beautiful to see so many students who are in love with Jesus and want to make Him famous in this earth.
I thank u guys with all of my heart, everything was awesome.. the bands, the songs, the preachers, the prayers. Thanks Loiue, Francis, David, Chris, the translators and all the Passion team. God really spoke to us in a very special way. The time has come for us to shine and show Jesus wherever we may go. I know that greater things have yet to come! I know that His grace is enough and His love never ends!
We are praying with all of our hearts for Kampala.. will be indescribable, I'm sure!
PLEASEEEE, come back here next year, it was so special!

  • What was that????? I'm so amazed of what God has done in here!! I was there to testify the massive amount of youth compromised with the word of God and ready to make the name of Jesus famous in this World! Thanks Passion for being here with us, thank you Louie, thank you Francis, thank you Chris Tomlin, thank you David Crowder, thank you all the crew that came to Brazil! God Bless you all! For sure we're all praying hard for Kampala! It will be great over there! By the wondrous grace of God! I was in São Paulo and I brought 42 people (youth) from my church, we're so blessed, so ready to do great things through our lives to make Jesus famous in our Universities, our cities, our Nation! I had major Goosebumps seeing the videos; I cannot stop singing these music!

"And now is the time for the people to rise
Lift up a shout, everybody cry out
Raise your voice, shout out a noise
And dance a dance of joy

    We are the redeemed
We are the ones who are free
    And we belong to Jesus
    We are now alive
And in this world we will shine
    Cause we belong to Jesus!!!"

  • HI Louie!
I wanted to thank you and your team for all you did for us in Uganda. starting out I had been feeling like I had very little left if anything to give, but by the end my heart was full. I am so thankful to God because He knows what we need when we need it. I am praying for my brothers and sister in Paris and believing that God will do for them what He did for me. I am also believing for 10,000 people to come by the last night! Greater things are coming to Paris!!
